Wont be much longer and Chad Reed will be knocking on the VMX stage...just thought I'd mention him back in to SX mix at the Houston round next week.  ;)

The rider has been at our club runs before,if he is the same rider I believe he is a member of www.pre85mxwa.com

Wayne Atkins on that 2000 model CR500 was unbelievable in the vets and open events.

They were incredibly good with a sidecar on them. I think Zabel doctored them a fair bit maybe up to 650+cc. Them and the Maico 490 were probaly the best of the conversions in the day but niether could beat the Jumbo regularly enough to take the title. Now days they are all 700cc singles both 2 & 4 strokers.

i'm fairly sure 2003 was the year of the last "Enduro" CR500E, the last Full CR500 was 2002.

I think 2001 was the last year the CR500 was made.
The enduro model was built here using the unsold stocks of '01 models.

Reed on a CR500..that would be cool. I knew of about 6 uncrated 2001 CR500's stored away a while back.

Johnny O is right. 2001, then left overs were made into rego'd bikes for '02.
Since then people have been putting 500 motors into 250 (alloy) framed bikes. Most famously Service Honda.

A bit of thread drift but what to go Wayne Atkins, keeping the king alive, oh I am bias.

90% rider 10% bike, CR500 99.9% rider to keep it pinned untill the flag.
