2010 HEAVEN VMX Inc Round 1
« on: March 04, 2010, 08:56:04 am »
Well the time is almost upon us for the start of another year of HEAVEN racing. First round kicks off the season at the Lake Glenbawn complex and recent rain ensures that the track and the local grounds should be in picture perfect condition. Anyone who has ridden at the Lake Glenbawn MX track will agree that this is a superb track for vintage racing ( or practice/rec riding).
Action starts on Saturday 20th March 2010 with rec riding for the day (modern bikes welcome) and full round of racing on the Sunday. There has been a small change to the classes for this year which should allow for better racing. The new classes for each era are as follows;

125cc
250cc
263cc and over
All in

These are the classes for the following era's;
Pre 75, Pre 78, Evo & Pre 85

Other classes to be included as all in are Pre 70, 4Stroke ( with under 300cc & over 300cc scored seperately in the same race), Ladies & Juniors.
HEAVEN VMX Inc shall continue the policy of 1 bike , 2 rides and the ride up class for any bike shall be the era specific "All in" race.
For example, a 1974 250cc is directly eligible for the Pre 75 250cc class. The ride up class for this bike would be the Pre 75 All in class. If you have any questions regarding this, please do not hesitate to contact the club.
Entry forms should be starting to role in now (HINT, HINT ) and also memberships if not already submitted.
Looking forward to seeing you on the track!

Regards
Dan Tydd
Secretary 2010 HEAVEN VMX Inc Committee

The NEW classes are the way to go. I've never been a supporter of bikes racing out of their era. However PRE 90 has been
over looked, surely if it's about lack of track time PRE 90 and 4 stroke could run together. I know this will result in different era's
competing but it has to come back to numbers. I'm sure after a few rounds there would be at least a dozen PRE 90's competing.
In 2003 I could race my 19 year old Yamaha YZ250L however in 2010 I've got no class to race my 21 year old 1989 Honda CR250.
Any how Dan (entry in the post) I'll see you at Lake Glenbawn and I'll have my PRE 85 bikes. I haven't been to Glenbawn for about 4 years and it was a
GREAT track then and I'm told it's even better now. Cheers

Quick question about the new classes. Do we now have separate 125cc races within the major classes? ie 125cc Pre 75, Pre 78, Evo and Pre 85, rather than the Classic and Post Classic that was used? If so I hope that Pre 75 and Pre 78 are run together otherwise it'll be a 4 bike field in those races...

Graeme,
The proposal for the Pre 75 & Pre78 125cc is to run as seperate races but as you can appreciate, this will be dependant upon numbers. To this effect, we shall just have to wait and see how many entries we get and go from there. Cheers.

Hi
we are getting good numbers for the membership, but slow entries for the first round,

PLEASE GET THOSE ENTRIES IN, PLEASE

On the day entries take time away from riding
we have a new race format this year that will take more time to run so getting the entries in early helps

Noel,
I shall confirm with Leon from the Upper Hunter Club what time he gate will be open on Friday. I also heard a whisper today that the Upper Hunter Club may be running a canteen on both days, so I shall confirm that as well and get back on the forum once I know. Cheers. See you there, can't wait!!

OK guys, confirmed with Leon from Upper Hunter Club today that the gates shall be open at the track all day. Leon shall be on site watering the track for us , so huge thanks to Leon and the Upper Hunter Club. Cannot confirm a canteen will be operating at the track but as usual the canteen at the Lake shall be operational. Warm weather predicted so remmber plenty of fluids ( through the day, not just the night) and looking forward to an enjoyable weekend of riding! See you all there. Cheers.
