HD spring from YSS was about $200+postage.

My bike now has too little rebound dampening though... I'm looking at fitting a late model valve piston to it, but its going to be a turd of a job thanks to the big fat shaft of the early monoshock.

I was watching a YZ250C shock on ebay and had the seller measure the length from the end of the thread to the pivot point, and it's the same as my 125C, about 620mm :-\

Is the 125X shock actually any longer? has anyone got one out of a bike they could measure?

Cheers

so the MX250 shock is 620mm long, and you have a yz250c shock that measures 640mm.

So despite the individual part numbers for the major shock components being the same on the Yamaha parts list, the shocks are actually different lengths?

All I need now is someone to measure an actual 125X shock.

My 125X shock was longer than my 125C shocks. Didn't look modified or anything.

Its in the bike ATM, so I can't measure it.

Jim's saving me the drama - his is apart and he's offered to measure it once he's sure what measurement you want.

Just to make sure: ITs the pivot on the top of the swing arm to the very end of the shock, up under the thank?

I measured an IT400C shock, and I got 635mm from end of threaded section (end of shaft) to centre of hole through the membrane housing...  Maybe I'm measuring to a slightly different point?  (not 640mm)

White Brothers did an 8.5" travel kit for all 75-76 Yamaha monoshocks. Not sure if that helps you or not.
Wanted - 1978 TS185 frame or frame&motor. Frame # TS1852-24007 up to TS1852-39022

looks like that's the answer tony, thanks for that. So I basically need any YZ or IT400 C model shock (except the 125)

Cheers mate
