Yes the teams event was at Nepean. I think they only ever run the teams events at Nepean.

The other track was Uralla. The first ever short circuit event that was run at Uralla turned out to be a real problem for them. During practice the police stepped and stopped the meeting. Apparently, the track had not been licensed with a right hander, so the police made them remove the right hander and use the full circuit for the meeting. As you can imagine, I had a field day and that is when that photo was taken just as I came off the main straight.

Not Dubbo but yes a country track. I think this was the only time I ever rode there.
The helmet was hot pink, the leathers blue with pink stars all over and pink stars down the sides of my boots. If you look close you can see a small emblem of superman on my breast plate. The body colours represented Hunter Valley Light Cycle Club, which my club as a trials rider.

You beat me to it Jim, or maybe Orange, Young or Cowra.
I've covered a few there I know.
Is that Chad Morgan sitting on a Hagon in the background, actually it looks a bit like Doug Penrose?

I'll put out of your misery. You got it, it was Cowra. You can't imaging riding around a track nowadays with no safety fence and a couple of yokels sitting on the sideline, can you?

My first memory of Cowra was around 65 on the Easter Monday after Billy had ridden Dads bikes at Bathurst. The infield was overgrown bigtime & Billy came back after practice with the knuckles on his left hand full of thistles. The Easter Monday dirt trackmeeting swapped around between Cowra & Orange.
Carl had his first big get off at Orange, courtesy of a clash with one of the real old hard heads of the time, George Watson. In no way do I mean George got him because Carl was never one to give in.

Truly a great  shot, I can hardly believe a bike could be rideable at that angle and the rider still stay in control!  Quite a bit different from the modern lay-down motor set up like we see now where the speedway bikes slide so fast and near to vertical and with the left foot tucked in behind the front wheel!    The shots at Cowra and Boxers creek brought back some memories for me. I rode at Cowra a few times, Heddon greeter, Taree,Vineyards, Young, Salty Creek once, Orange, Londonderry, and Boxers creek was my favourite track apart from Nepean. cheers wally. Oh and once in Tasmania, I think it was a track near Longford.
dont follow me i'm probably off line!

Waiting for a restart at the Showground with Barry VanPraag in the background and Dennis Alderton far left behind the fence at Jerilderie Park who was a mentor to both Phill Herne & Billy Sanders.
Bluey was from up your way wasn't he? I wonder how or where he is?
