KLX250 - A1/2 to B1/2 Compatibilty
« on: January 30, 2010, 12:28:47 am »
Hi,

Wondered if anyone could tell me if parts such as air filter. oil filter, levers ie consumables
are compatible between A and B models.
Just purchased an '82 B2 and am now realising there don't seem to be any parts out there!
Hoping to restore it over this year.
Thanks
Wayne

all the parts you mentioned should be available at most bike shops as aftermarket parts

Yes.

I'm building mine from a big basket case (there's stuff from three bikes  - two B models and one A).
So far, I've found a lot of detail differences but everything seems to be interchangable.

Some differences are obviously just updates (like the later brake pedal going over the footpeg, rather than under it and the shape of the fuel tank) while other things are obviously part of the ADR process (levers with brake-light switch included, horn brackets etc).

But yeah, they're basically the same bikes.
The good thing about telling the truth is that you don't have to remember what you said.

Hi Wayne
If you look under the Kawasaki section there is quite a lot of discussion about model types,
If your in the UK like me you have the other confusion of metal tanks fitted to the B models

Good to see there are still some UK models still about.
Look after that steel tank and short seat though..... rocking horse doo-doo's. Plastic tanks and longer seats are easier to find.
Paul.... see PM ref the weekend.
If you are going to Telford, be good to meet up.
