G'day viewers just wondering if this would work. I have a BSA Starfire 1969 250 frame that looks a lot like a B50 frame and I have a Honda SL350 engine but the engine is not with me as yet. Would this engine marrie into the BSA frame ? and could I race it pre 70s ? $:-\$ jimson

If it was a very early electric start SL350 maybe, easier to try an find an early CL350 or CL450 complete and work on that. Into the Starfire frame a lot of work and any benefits well Hmmm don't know.

why bother Honda frame will be just as good and probably lighter

Marc I just want something different thats all. That pic you put up I have as a sceen saver if thats what you call it. I think the frame has been changed as you can't see the pressed back bone like on all the early Honda's. Tim I shouldn't say pre 70 race as I'm yet to race pre anything

Can't beat the beautiful sound those early Honda twins make!! A shame to muffle them.

Have to agree with you Mike. I flat tracked a 350sl Honda(late 70's). We split the pipes under the motor and had reverse cone megaphone on each pipe coming just behind the foot pegs. Never won anything but sounded good

i HAVE A BSA A7 / A10 FRAME AND WAS THINK ABOUT PUTTING A HONDA TWIN IN IT FOR EXAMPLE CB 72- 77 350 TWIN, NOW SOMWHERE IN ONE OF THESE THREADS, THERE WAS A PHOTO OF A TWIN IN A BSA FRAME. DOES ANYBODY REMEMBERS THAT PHOTO.

Yes, your looks great, is the engine in that photo is it a cb 72 or 77.

but the engine looks old school Honda it would be 60s for sure mine will be a SL350 1970 engine in a frame that looks like a BSA B50 frame but is a 1969 BSA starfire frame. jimson

In the late 60s there was a guy from Mt Isa who used to ride his 305 honda, I think it was a CL77 all the way to Townsville, trials tyres strapped on the back, to race short circuit. End of day, he'd change tyres, refit the muffler, and ride all the way back! Can't remember his name, but I remember the Beautiful Noise that bike made.
One afternoon a week before the Nth Qld short circuit titles, a friend and I decided to see if we could fit a honda C92 - suitably fitted with the camshaft, pistons and megaphones from the road race kit, into a plunger BSA bantam frame. What a rough job!!
Got OK for a late nomination for the titles, and showed up on the day.
Took it out for practice, it went like a rocket.
Much faster than all the other Yam twins, Bridgestones, Suzukis & Honda 90s.
Sounded better too!
Surprise, surprise, told late nomination wouldn't be accepted, not allowed to race.
Ended up riding the bike at Mackay speedway against 500cc stockbike class. They weren't worried, even if it beat a couple.
