Head of VMX Security, "Reboots" after brush with death.
« on: December 17, 2009, 11:34:26 am »
The most amazing thing happened yesterday. I responded to a large kafuffle, to find my four-legged one year old friend in a major spasm being fried on a live 240v feed she had chewed through. I ran and shut down the mains supply. I returned to a still lifeless not breathing dog. In helplessness, I started thinking “well this sucks, it’s just like last Christmas”
All of a sudden she did an amazing death roll spasm and started breathing again, she started growling and snapping at the air. I bolted to the cover of a closed, locked door.
I watched out the window as she got to her feet, than sat there for two hours looking around bewildered as if to say “ what the F__k was that”
I look at her this morning in amazement. I am not sure what to call her now. Somehow "Digger" or "Chewer", just doesn't seem to sum her up anymore.

Merry Christmas,
Mick.

sorry Mick I shouldn't laugh, but we have cattle and a electric fence so have pictured a few instances with the dogs and especially involving myself with a few glass's of red and forgetting to flick the switch when heading up the paddock..say no more   :-X   :o  :-X

I have never seen a more agro beast, as when it came back to life. I reckon Rambo would have runaway too. My better half fed it diced up rump steak last night, and it sucked up to her. So I have just been to the butchers and given it a leg of lamb for morning tea. Early chrissy present, and I think after seeing how
it blew-up, I best stay on the good side of it ::)

Merry Christmas,
Mick.

yes, there is no calming of the beast after its had 240 plus on its back or between its teeth.
Our dogs have special exit and entries under the fence/gates to get into the paddock...Not nice when they get a shot. They look at me and head for home, even though I was 40 yards from them.  :-\
I've never been a big believer in the cattle prods they use when loading cattle either-dog or poly pipe is the go.  8)
Hope your dog doesn't put the sad face on for too long or the legs of lamb will start eating into the 2010 vmx budget.  ;D
cheers

The name now is 'Sparks', maybe 'Electra' (although that is a mouthful - no pun intended ::)), or maybe '240', or better still '10 watts' (none too bright).

It will be interesting to see if the chewing habit has being cured :D.

Mick, that's so flucking funny! My ex's dog, Darla Jean did the same thing back in the 70's when she chewed the pool filter chord but it was only 110v (USA). She never chewed a chord (or anything else, come to think of it) again though. I'm glad your pooch survived mate. I would have buggered the kids Christmas big time. :'(

Glad to hear their was a happy outcome, nothing worse than giving your dog the kiss of life.
Dogs are funny when they get zapped. No matter how far away I am when ours get bitten by the electric fence they always look at me like i just belted them.

I actually came quite close to connecting a fencing wire to the electric fence & feeding it down the garden hose to stop the dog chewing it.
Fortunately she grew out of chewing before I made a real dick of myself.

Just call her "Wife".
That's exactly what mine does when I accidently touch her arse at 6am.

 ....

Apparently its just like when you come off a bike, and are pounded into the ground - you need a minute to think "F$%K! That was pretty ordinary" before you get up. Sometimes you also need a minute to blame someone else too...

Jimson, I was thinking the same thing...

Discipline should be easy now eh Mick? She might listen to you now if you hold up an extention cord and fit an RCD.
