Husqvarna CNC'd clutch cover 1983/1984 + more

Hi everyone,

I though I'd pop up and say hi and greetings from england, I myself own a 1984 wr240 twinshock and a whole host of other old bikes including a maico gs250, Moto Gori MR500 and a ccm cmt240

Like alot of people I had the problem of a smashed clutch cover on my husky and after a good bit of searching I was finding it almost impossible to find a replacement clutch cover that hadn't been smashed and then bodged back together.

To solve this problem and after a couple of months of late evenings and working weekends I had myself a brand new cast and cnc'd clutch cover + a couple spare



Any feedback or thoughts on the casings are welcome, for instance I think that they look nice without being painted black what do you guys think?

You'd have to be happy with that, looks really good, gives it that works'y look. You could leave it natural or paint it, I think it would look good either way. Cheers John.

Both covers look good. I'd leave them unpainted, just to show off what you've made. There a bit of effort in there for sure.

Did you use original covers as patterns and if so how did you deal with the shrinkage.

I had a Honda ignition cover cast quite a few years ago using on old cover as a pattern and got a little bit of shrinkage, so all the screw hole weren't quit central to the casting, did the job though.

                    We have the same problem here in Australia with these covers. They would be great as is for 99% of the chaps and the really fussy ones could hand finish the edges to give that soft edge look. I reckon you are on a winner. Go an idea of cost. I'll be your Aussie agent !!!!!

Yes, I had to build up the pattern.  It is a right old game getting it right, you need 2 or 3 donor covers so that it is possible to map the positions of all the holes etc. And you need a bike to try it on!  Good job I hav'nt kept a tab of the hours I've spent!

Very good work. Don't forget Russell Brown is the local Aussie guru of cast clutch covers. He does the Husky covers for air cooled bikes as well as numerous Honda water cooled covers.

The filler is about 4 times as  big as it needs to be. Level screw and  a small hex plug would look more shrink w rap.

I will see Russell next weekend. I will ask him then. I have fitted a really rough one. not sure if it is a HVA, looks like one. Poor fit on my 83 250WR.
