I am after a front end to put on one of my pe400's. I want to keep the original trees and headlight but I'd really like a front disc if i could get some 36mm front forks etc etc with a front wheel etc etc. I am not to fussed what sort they are but just need to be 36mm please pm if you have something. Also chasing some 400mm or close to 400mm gas shocks piggy back or anything will do rebuilding isnt a prob either just trying to put together a good bike with a project pe400 I picked up thanks alot Michael.

1985 to about 88/89 Enduro model DR 250 has 36mm disc front end but i doubt the forks are long enough for PE
XT350 from 86 onwards has 36mm with disc. i would look at that. go to bike pics website to find pics of XT350.

ok anything would be good i spose it wouldnt matter if it was a little more and just have to slide a bit extra through the trees better a fraction longer then to short i spose i create a problem with the rear if the front gets jacked up i cant really change for much longer shocks on the rear thanks for the advice guys

KLR 250 85 onwards also has 36mm disc. Legs might be a little too short though. Plenty of those at wreckers and in just bikes.
also maybe look at some late 80's to early 90's 80cc mxers. They have long forks and some are 36 i reckon. You would need stiffer springs though or the PE ones might fit in

hmm was thinking it would be really easy to do i definetly want to do it to this pe400 roller i have but sounds like i need to do some research i seen one on ebay not long ago with drz front forks but i wonder how much work went into that surely something should be within fairly close length and 36mm
i rang a wreckers and he suggested klr250 but i dont think was sure on length i dont mind paying a bit extra for something that just slides straight on thanks Michael.

i put a drz250 complete front end on my 1979 it/yz400.i first checked to see that bike had the same size bearings and went from there.a little bit of machineing here and there.bolted right in.this is the best way as you then dont have to make brackes ans spaces to mount the brake calaper and wheel with disk.

I have KLR front end but not sure i can get to at the moment. I will have a look. i know they have about 220 or 230mm travel and teh PE has about 250. when i thought of doing i was going to use a DR200 or 250 wheel as they are 12mm axle so fit right in and then fabricate my own bolt on caliper mount like on Steven Galls YZ490 when he fitted a XT600 front disc wheel around 83/84 and had a clamp on caliper holder. Ive got pictures of that bike somewhere. other option is to get another PE outer fork slider and weld mounts to it if you want to keep the original set unmodified. Theres plenty of PE forks out there.

klr250 disc brake wasnt much better than a good tls drummy and klr's suspension could be compered to a wet sponge, what about xr250 honda's they have twin piston calipers
