Australian VMX Champions
« on: October 27, 2009, 05:31:55 am »
I was just wondering who is the most successful VMX rider in Australia? That is in total championships won. I'm guessing Boagy or 090 would be up there? Anyone else?

Also what state has produced the most champions over the years?

Cheers
Shaun

I think Boag has about 50 to his name. If you won 5 titles per year it would take you ten years to equal that. Any one else would be a distant second.
I wonder how many John Kemp has. He has been riding vintage for quite a long time and has a world title ( an American type ) as well.

Yep, I agree that Boagy has to be the most, dont underestimate Colin Metcher, overall between CDT, CMX masters games appearences, state titles he would have to be way up there. You cant underestimate a guy in his 70's that takes at least 4 bikes to every meeting!

I have asked MAQ this same question but they palmed it off and said "it would be in the archives somewhere" and left it at that.
This is something of a problem as we don't seem to have any 'history' in our sport except maybe the 24hr trial and lately the Hattah and Fink. But even those don't get enough recognition.
Why don't we have the rerun of the Heck Henderson or the Classic Mr Motocross etc....?

I may not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it.

the official australian champions appear every year in the MA book and are also archived . Perhaps allison has time to dig up the link and adjust her post accordingly  ;)

I can only access MA as far back as 2001,other than that someone over there is closer to the archive room.
 post adjusted.  ;D

ahh this is another researchers quest.  :P
The Nats hosting clubs needs to put the rider home state on the race programs.!
It would have to be (round of applause..clap clap clap) Mr Boagys home state ????? which is ????
Can some one ring him and ask him how many he's got on his mantle piece?
cheers
