Hi mike1948,
The large front cog made it very difficult to scale the hills.
Once on the level the bike runs okay. My YZ125 never got into third, most of the time it was in first.
I have now installed a 51 tooth rear cog with a 12 tooth front.
I will be testing gear ratios at Cooroy to see what makes the YZ's perform.

We fuss too much I believe and end up screwing ourselves over.
So many of us lost before we reached the track.

Keep well.

John Boag had a few problems also.
I spent Saturday afternoon with John as we searched for an intermittent carburation problem.
John's twin pipe was running well then starving then running well.
We stripped the carb and blew out all the jets.
Then we replaced the spark plug and checked the timing.
We ran the fuel tap to see if anything was blocking it but it poured fuel out of the tank.

This trying to find a problem in the field is very difficult.
I don't think we fixed the problem.

Hey Ji....If past experience has anything to do with the situation, blowing out the jets on the twin piper was the least that bike needed. It's a pretty ordinary example of the model made to look good by Boagys amazing riding skills.

Hi Mark,
I totally agree.
After looking over John's twin pipe I was not as keen to have one.
John's is pretty rough and low on compression as it takes nothing to kick it over. Virtually everything was held on by fencing wire. I would love to be able to restore that bike. With out John on its back I agree that bike would come in last.

Hi Paul,
John told me he has three twin pipes.
He agreed to sell one to me when he gets another one to replace it.
I think that means he is not going to sell me one.
But the one that he had at the Nationals, works and looks the best so he and Fay said.
It would break my heart to see the others.
Fay and John did say that may be next time they should spend some time on making their bikes look a bit better, but I think he works on the philosophy:

"Treat em mean keep em keen"

Good idea except I think it would be Gantor-Boag.

I could then say.
"My name is Boag"
"Ji Boag"
