Just wondering Jock, that offer you gave to E74 would that be a IT 490 Standard pre 84 bike that blokes rode back then,,,or would it be a mock up bike with mod front suspension etc, etc,,nothing like wet drum brakes to test out your skill and Heart?.

That'd be in whatever 'trim' the rider likes.

I had a 84 KTM 250GS and it was a very good bike back in the day. When I sold her in 1992 she could'nt quite match it with my mates on their RMX, WR's or the early 90s KTM's. A pre 85 bike would'nt have a hope in hell of matching it with a 2009 model. This includes the IT 490 They were fast in a straight line or in open going, but for a tight Enduro they were hard work. I will agree that it does'nt matter what you ride just have fun, I took my old monty out with the boys on their 450s and had a ball.

I'd take you up on that offer Jock old buddy. Would love to have a crack at this years 4day at Orange aboard my 1984 Maico SC500. It's a great enduro bike. Basically a bike arm chair. Only thing I would change and most Maico owners would agree is the front brake. I have a 1984 KX250 front end in my other Maico, that I would swap over.
Maybe next year. Ballard proved that a new bike is not everything. I'm not saying that I'm a great rider like him but if you are tuned in with the bike anything is possible. I would expect a good result anyway. I would like to do some 2day events before I threw myself into the 4 Day. It's pretty tough.
