Wheel offset?
« on: November 17, 2010, 07:16:37 pm »
I'm having problems centering the frontwheel in my FOX forks. How much is it realistic to think i can move the rim over by adjusting the spokes ???
YZ -81 wheel.
Thanks

If your struggling and it is already laced just take it to the bike shop as long as you know the offset to true it I doubt they would charge you much.

I'm doing it myself, it's just that I've never tried to move it over before, and wonder how much I can expect.

You would be able to move it 5-10mm across.. is that enough?

Why are fox forks any different (excuse my ignorance).  Are you sure you haven't left out a spacer or something ??
Looking for YZ250C parts NOS if possible

It's FOXforks for a Husqvarna, so I need room for a torquearm on the outside of the brakeplate, also the forkclamp is a lot wider so I can't get it far enough to the left.
I think I can make it work if I machine off 8mm from the brakeplate and get the rim offset about 5 mm to the side...
Do you think 5mm is ok, spokeangle etc?

Yeah for 5mm you will be right, just try it and see, you will work it out.

You will be suprised at how little adjustment of the spokes is require to move the rim across 5mm. I had to do similar when I fitted a Honda front wheel into the Ceriani forks that I run on one of My XT500 Yamaha's and it didn't take much to get that kind of offset.

not such a big deal with a 21" front wheel Wasp, spoke nipple hole angle realignment will be 5/8's of fuggall over 5mm rim movement  ;),only concideration would be if/maybe the threads might poke through on the side Ola's moving them across to,(anglegrinder ;D),handy tip Ola,release 2 turns before tightening 2 turns continously till rims moved to where you need it!, :P
work, the curse of the racing class!!
if a hammer dosn't fix it,you have a electrical problem!!
