You been hard at it Simon, so obviously keen to get it on the track and that's great to hear.  I think I have a couple of spare new water pump seals if you can't get one, but tell me quick if so, I won't include it in the box of goodies going with my '83 up north later this week.  Re pre-90, I just have to see what the rule book says about the '86.  It has drum rear and conventional forks (ie, not USD), so keen to get a view on whether that means its still pre-85 legal or not.  If not, I'll put it to the club to change the class to pre-88 (twenty years or older bikes next year) or pre-90.  You know of the vintage MX two dayer at fairbairn coming up in two weeks time?  Might be a bit soon for the CR to be ready for it but keep it in mind.  Maybe bring it out for a show and tell session sunday (race day)?  I've got to get a decision off Kel (race secretary for the HEAVEN VMX club) re whether me new RG (arriving today!) is pre-85 legal or not....if not, i guess i'll just ride the saturday practice.... :-[ :-[  looking forward to trying it out tho.  remember one line from a test on it i read....'pulls like a 14 yr old right off idle' - that means got some low down go - woohoo!! ;D ;D

Looks like I need at least another tankand seat,  I have two engines, frames and wheel sets electrics etc big job to get the other one running probally better off buying another wreck
does pre 88 mean that you can ride and 88 or only up to 87

took all of two days on the ozvmx for sale pages for it to go at $2800, so obviously a fair price (and a good place to advertise old bikes).  shipping new one in for $460 from adelaide.  if actmcc adopted a 'twenty year or older' class rule, then 'pre-88' would be the name for the old bikes class next year, meaning bikes made up to and including 1987 would be eligible.  but who knows, everyone might tell me to sod off, in which case i just come second last in every over-35s race and well last in the senior open class.....

i just like the idea of a powerband that is everywhere not just from halfway.  i loved my '83, and it has a nice broadish powerband, but still have to use the clutch a lot to keep it on the pipe to keep the speed up on the act track and sometimes its all just a bit difficult (and you roll over obstacles instead of jump them....).

fergusson racing australia shipped it.  they're in melbourne or vic at least.  they seem ok - easy to deal with on the phone; only prob was their driver didn't get the email job order and so missed a week that way, and still awaiting his call that he's in cooee of the ACT....let you know if pans out ok or not.

they're on 03 9747 1666 and do at least adelaide to brissy, probably more.

frig me - turns out the driver came thru canberra at 4am yesterday morning and thought it too early to drop bike off.....so kept right on going (up to brissy) - what a bright fellow!  fergussons assured me they gave him a caning for being a nong and refunded a good bit of the fee.  now we'll see if he manages to get it all right on friday when he comes back down...

yeah, as i said to you sunday simon, bike arrived 2am friday nite - bit ordinary that one.  i slept on the sofa so the guy could just rap gently on front door.  bastard never made me a cup of tea tho.  anyway, bike looked good in the middle of the night by the garage light, and pretty much as good on closer inspection the next day in broad daylight.  frame's been powdercoated recently which is nice, and engine sounds tight.  few spins round fairbairn proves that a power valve does add a good bit of poke, more importantly, all the way thru the rev range.  seems to handle well and soak up bumps fine too.  i'm happy with it!

btw, i have a spare water pump seal for you, will bring saturday to fairbairn for first day of heaven gig (think you said you might come check it out?).  will see if any other left over bits and pieces.
