RM 80 C/N pipe
« on: February 01, 2015, 09:27:25 pm »
I just picked up an RM80C basket case, only
major bits missing are the pipe and of course
the muffler. Can somebody tell me if an
RM80 N pipe will fit?
Cheers Nob

Hi Nob,

The 80 B and C pipe had the hanger bracket on the tail pipe section welded underneath.  The N has the bracket welded on top.  Here is a B, C one on ebay and you can see the bracket.. http://www.ebay.com/itm/SUZUKI-RM-80-1977-1978-EXHAUST-PIPE-EXPANSION-CHAMBER-WITH-HEAT-GUARD-AHRMA-79-/351289738995?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item51ca8006f3&vxp=mtr  That would fit easily and an N one would fit but the rear would need to be played with.

Also, the N had a dual wall skin to keep noise down.  It isnt as loud as the B, C.

Ive got heaps of info on the B and N i rebuilt on the following threads.. http://forum.ozvmx.com/index.php?topic=35471.0

If you read the N rebuild thread, i have some magazine articles in there and one of them mentions the N pipe and its perforated inner wall.
I also had to use a DG muffler for the N.  Works great but i love the little stinger on the B.  The B thread has a YouTube link to the bike being revved up before i restored it.  Love that buzzzzzz.

Thanks Alex, I've seen the ebay pipes and thought the N one which is cheaper would also look cooler without the heat gaurd, wasnt aware of the dual wall. I got outbid on the original muffler he had, $138 plus $61 postage, So I might go a DG also. I remember bidding on an 80N that I think you got. I have seen your threads good stuff  :). If you check out my threads you'll see I am a Suzukiholic!
