Smits tacho gearbox/ KTT service?
« on: July 28, 2014, 04:06:50 am »
Hello.
I'm after a Smits tacho gearbox for my Bultaco TSS.
It should be called BG1507/?

Someone called KTT service in Australia did them, but is not in buisness anymore, has someone continued the production?

Any other leads on where I can find one?

Thanks

KTT is long gone. Contact Lionel Otto Instruments.

Thanks.
I'll be impressed if Newell has boxes of TSS parts, but it would be great if he does. :D
Anyway, I tried the email on his site, but it bounced back, does someone have one that works?
Cheers

I just rang Don Newell for you, he doesn't have any....So I rang John at Lionel Otto Instruments, he is 99% sure he has one or can get one [knows where the old KTT leftovers went]. What he needs to know is the reduction [he thinks 4-1 ratio for that period] and is normal rotation or reversing. Where does it drive off. Cheers John.

Wow!
Thank you very much John, so very kind of you to help out! :D

The gear runs right of the crank, it sits on the flywheel cover.
The flywheel turns counter-clockvise (same direction as the front sprocket)

The tacho has a 4-1 marking.

Maybe this also means something:

Bottom tacho:

I would also need the cable if he can supply.

Thank you very much again!

The cable should be ca 75cm.
Measured on the outside of the cable-threads is slightly less than 12mm, on the tacho-clock.

Clock runs like normal I guess, clockvise vieved from the top, and counterclockvise when vieved from the cable-end.

Do you think I should ask at the other place?

wondering if that tacho/right angle drive thing comes off the back of the speedo, thereby leaving a standard fitting for the cable as on most tach. that right angle could be just that, or could also be changing the ratio as well?
