2013 Bridgetown Scramble
« on: September 14, 2013, 12:20:13 pm »
It's all systems go for this year's scramble to be held on Sunday 29th of September (long weekend). Following the success of last years event, which saw sidecar riders and passengers wearing ballet tutus, (always thought those guys were a bit odd), this year will see riders tearing around the paddock wearing oversize undies on the outside!
As a charity fund raiser we will be running, as a feature event, an undies on the outside pony express to raise money for research into prostate cancer. A full race program including pre65/70, pre75- a,b and c grades, over 60's (age class), pre90 experts and novice, and sidecars. Legendary motocrosser Jimmy Ellis will again be racing on a Yamaha YZ 465 and, for an "old guy", (sorry Jimmy that came out all wrong!!), let me tell you there is life after professional motocross. Onsite catering will be a available on Sunday as well as a coffee van. Entries remain open till the 20th and spectators will be admitted for free.
Everyone, who is a member of the VMXWA or Pre85mxwa clubs, are welcome to enter and enjoy the warm hospitality that Bridgetown offers.
For further info contact Nick 0427603182 (VMXWA)or Paul 0407369930 (Pre85mxwa).

Talking of daisies, the poor petal on the right of the photo (Paul Copley) won't be cutting any!! He will be consigned to the 4 wheeler for the weekend. That's what happens when you argue with a modern mx bike, you break bones!!!!
Jimmy will have to find someone else to spar with on the day :) Get that RM going Steve you're guaranteed  a great ride on the weekend!!!!

Just over a week to go! Keeping a watchful eye on the weather. I can definitely say we probably won't be needing a water truck! With luck we will have nice fine weekend and witness some great racing.
Entries are still coming in and it looks like we will have good numbers in each class. Looking to put a flat screen tv in the marquee on Saturday afternoon for the footy grand final for those for those who aren't busy trying to get their bikes ready for the next day!! :D

With the drizzle set in.We packed our picnic for the Bridgetown Scramble on the superbly viewed grass track.
Arrived at 10am through the hills and lush green paddocks.A sea of campers all snuggled into the area, with three rows neatly set out and the fourth on the boundary fence. Families ,mates and couples are keen for a day on the vmx hill.

96 riders.that sums up a good sunday..going to be some awesome skids and slid photo up after this.
After dropping in and seeing the riders along the pit lanes it was time for a coffee from the mobile van.
The start line had been moved from last year further south, so the spectators could get the best view and sights of what vmx was all about. I walked this spectator's line and only met two or three whom I knew.
It showed that locals and newbee's where around today.  8)

Good grids of each class lined up, with two juniors also on the race program. Dads and kids all happy  :D
With the light drizzle it made the track slimy and slick. Even though the berms where shaping up, this drizzle didn't seem to help traction. Not to be detrude the riders keep at it with a new clean jersey or rain coat. Rossvickiecampbell country  ;)

The girls busily sewed the undies up for the Pony Express looked like a sweat shop without the sweat and all other official's busy at a fast walking pass to keep the event on even keel.
Top effort people.  8)

Another Classic day out with bikes from 60's to 90's having a superb time, so I highly suggest you keep Bridgetown Grass Tracks epic event on your OzVMX Calender.
cheers A

Thanks to all whom came to watch, ride, camp or drink beer around the fire on Saturday night.
Everyone seemed to have a great time, the undies on the outside pony express was definitley the highlight of the meeting, what a laugh ;D.
Now it is all done and dusted I've  got to get in the shed and get the AJS sorted for the Nats.
Not long now before we have to pack up the container. Good times!!
