Guess with everyone focused on the RT top end,  it may have slipped people's attention that the engine caters for right hand shift as well..........
Was this the norm for a 360A?

doing my head in 'too', i'll continue reading. First look shows [RT2mx top end for sure] & off course T_Red hit on the crancases as YZ cylinder has wider spaced rear studs. Wonder if it has YZA/B straight cut primary clutch & crank gears swiss cheese selector drum--where do you stop [YZ crank wheels which are hollowed out with a band around them [sort of] & on & on. Not wanting to be 'too' picky--maybe he's not fully aware of the fine detail & was just told she's yz built from new parts, [which two parts--outer covers--obviously are]. Didn't think the clutch cover allowed for the DT1 shaft to extend through--maybe machined to take a seal etc, anyway, ummm--looks good!!.

Hey, is the sprocket nut on back to front? maybe not enough shaft thread to put on right way [ie sprocket only 'just' on splines, what's going on inside.

 YZB's case have the casting to take a right foot'a, maybe some of Torsten Hallmans  early imput

hmmm not sure but thought the clutch cover was cast 'not right through' but just to support the end of the short shaft. Have a cover in the shed but too cold out there tonight. Can't decide if there's a seal in the cover. Got everyone going anyway!!.

Only the very first few 250's had the right hand gear change that was not drilled through after a Cpl of months it was blanked off . non of the 360 's had right hand gear system to my knowledge . this could be done with 360 cases and a dt1 68\69 gear shaft . this looks like some of my left over parts creations . Iain

YZA was designed to be able to shift either side, the frame on the YZA has some funny bracketry for the L/H brake pedal to be fitted. YZA outer cases where sandcast alloy and YZB magnesium.   Definitely Hallman influence.

Just checked a f@#$& cold shed over here ,your right Morley the casting doesn't go right through on this 250B.

I just sat down to read these replies and found that I couldn't remember if my RT1 engine had the right change cases so I rushed out into my cold old shed and took the below shot. I've only got the short gear lever shaft in the engine but it definitely pokes through the cases so it's safe to say that early RT1's are drilled for right foot change.
                                                         
And, a day later I took this shot of the rh gear change on my little red flat trackers RT1 motor.

hi guys the barrel and head are rt2 mx which means the cases are also as the yz 360 uses different rear stud spacings regards tony

I paid $200US for an outwardly crappy looking but internally perfect stock bore RT2MX engine, $100 for a YZ clutch cover and $300 for a Davy Crocket YZ clutch actuator which ads up to $600...a bucket load of money less than the 3k the seller is asking. Shit, I could buy a complete running and restored RT2MX for 3k ::).
