YZ G andH rear springs
« on: January 28, 2013, 05:57:39 pm »
Anyone got the colour codes for YZ G and H models springs? I'm looking for a heavier spring for a 125 G apparently a 250 G spring is the go

There's about three different G/H 250, 465 springs (I think) Brent and I've got a few different ones but don't know what's what. I should have my spring tester in few weeks time so I'll measure them up and let you know what I have if you're still looking by then.

Yes the standard 125 is a little soft for anyone over the weight of a six week old kitten.... :-\

Yes I do. Too heavy for me. Ideal for a heavier rider I'd say. Duel rate as well.

2.5kg - yellow/red
2.7kg - yellow/purple
2.9kg - yellow/pink
3.1kg - yellow/white , but i've seen this colour listed as a 3.5kg in some publications

i've got a YZ490J shock and it has a 4.5kg spring, which i think is the heaviest for that series, and the spring will fit on an earlier mono-shocks ... but can't remember the colours at the moment.

*edit*..
4.5kg - white/blue .. i had a look  :)

The J springs are single rate and not ideal for the mono-shocks.

those colours are from a monoshock H/J's  manual. the 3.1kg yellow/white spring is listed as both the heaviest mono-shock IT J and the lightest mono-x YZ J

Sorry. I thought you meant YZ J which had the linkage rear. Yes the IT J was still the mono-shock and had the variable rate springs.  :)

the YZ J uses the same 3.1kg yellow/white spring as the IT J.

Well then, the YZ J spring (off the linkage rear end) has a single rate spring which is not really suitable for the mono-shock rear end. I don't know why the IT mono-shock (J) would have had a straight rate spring.  ???

Yer doesn't make sense! I have a 490 J shock and it is single rate and has yellow white paint.
I wouldn't use it on a G/H  model .
I have a parts fiche CD that is incomplete , no 1980?? bloody hell .125 H red/green is soft , red/blue id hard but give sno rates.
YZ250G/H they show the same part# but no colours or rates .
YZ465 G/H green is soft but no rate , blue is hard but no rate given.
also IT465 soft is yellow /purple and hard is yellow white like ZAKK  said.

The other problem is the standard springs are not coloured?? is this right ?? at least the ones Im looking at now aren't.
