CZ400 Question
« on: July 21, 2012, 11:01:47 am »
Got leaky fork seals and would like to put some new ones in.
Having a bit of trouble taking the inners out of the top clamp.
Have you gotta screw them out from the bottom or tap them out from the top.
It looks like someone has already had a crack at trying to tap them out from the top
cause there is some minor damage to the inside top of fork.
Unsure on what to do and a little bit embarressed, never seen anything like it. ;D
My owners manual arrives next week but would like to knock it over this weekend..
Any info on this subject much appreciated.
Thanks Andrew

If you are taking the forks aparts, their is a allen head screw (bolt) at the bottom of the forks where the axle is, then you need to undo the fork caps remove the inners springs, and get the longest
screw driver you can buy, make sure the flat end is wide enought, put that into the fork tube and lock the inner and turn the allen head bolt.

As Dave said,
allen screw up from the bottom, a rattle gun is good here,
then slide bottoms off.

the top triple clamp is a taper fit on the fork tube, a little heat may be needed, but if you do not need to remove them it is goo that there are tight, leave them alone

Its all good got the bottom leg off and left the top in the triple clamp.
New seals and dust covers are in place.
Tomoz ill put it all back together and everything will be fine.
Thanks to Noel and 46m for your input, really appreciate that. 8)
