Stubborn Fork Seal

Hi Guys,

I have a stubborn fork seal which is doing it's best not to be removed. I've tried levering it out with a large regular screw driver, pulling it out with a spring puller but no go. Any more force and I am worried I might damage the alloy where it is seated. Is there a 'Trick' to this I don't know about or have forgotten?

Warm it up with a heat gun young  fella

And use a tyre lever, not a screwdriver.

Set fire to it and burn it out with a propane touch.

fork it that will sort the little prick out, id even give it a warning... come out or im burning you out !

...or you can reassemble the fork without the springs [and without the seal retainer/circlip]... fill completely with fluid and then put the fork in a hydraulic press and carefully compress... the seal will simply pop out.

You don't need to fill the fork in it's fully extended position. You only need an inch or two of travel. Just make sure there is no air in the fork...

or you could have the fun of burning it out... Freaky style!!!!

Cut into the sides of the seal with side cutters and then lever it out trying to get it folding were you cut.
Remove all retaining circlips compress assembled forks with a tie down and put allot of compressed into the bolt hole at the bottom of the fork.

Get a flat punch and go around the Circumference tapping down so the seal collapses inward away from fork
then use tyre lever with protection on fulcrum

 heat is good too
