'77 PE250B original rear tyre fitment
« on: January 27, 2012, 04:43:33 am »
Hi all,

Looking over a very clean original B model today, that was fitted a very worn IRC with 'Pure Enduro' embossed in the rubber near the bead of the tyre, which is on an Akront rim; is this just a coincidence, or could it be that the bike is on its original rear tyre? The bikes speedo is reading less than 300 miles which might also back this up, although I don't know if it is working. Thanks a lot, Mac

Hi Canari, thanks for the info. The full script on the tyre reads 'Pure Enduro IRC Volcano'. Thanks Mac

Yes! the earliest of the PE250B's came with Akront rims (later the Takasago rims became standard) and a 'wears like iron' IRC tyre specifically done for it, which I have seen referred to as the 'Volcanduro' and 'Volcano'. So it sounds original. Is the front an IRC GS 565 perchance?

Hi luke, script on front tyre actually reads IRC Motocross GS-56 F, rather than GS-565. I initially thought that was a later replacement, but your number is so close perhaps it sounds like it could be original too? Should also have added thaat the bike is an early one, frame number puts ite within the first 100 bikes made. All the best, Mac

Hello Fabrice  ;D

Just the very first 250B's - a few hundred and then they changed to Takasago for everything.

You will have to start collecting your PE250B parts once the 250N is done!
