Wheel off setts to front and rear
« on: March 29, 2011, 08:59:29 pm »
Just a throught I had a couple of mths back on wheel off setts and wheel alignment.,
Trying to get a bike to turn better cornering etc ,if the rear wheel is off sett 11mm to the front would that make cornering harder....

I can off sett my back wheels to suit the front but rather wait for the forum board to respond  :D
I have measured three bikes one is 3mm,11mm and 10mm this is with true rims and stadard hub off setts to rims
I have lined the back wheels up spot on with the front cog to get the rear wheel square and straight

I used  a alloy straight edge and measured from centre of rim front and rear of both wheels to get the bike in a straight line.
Then worked out the diffrence ....And I have made sure the front rim is centre of forks.....
I realise we are playing with old dirt bikes ,not super bikes on tar

And is modern bikes pretty spot on I dont have one to check ???
Its just something I havent seen pop up on here since Ive been on here (theres a young bloke up the top end i would say hes been down this line of throughts) 8)

Its something to think about when building a hybrid four banger ..
Changing wheels triples swing arms etc
keeping the wheels in a straight line..
