CD 7 Maintenance
« on: June 06, 2010, 08:14:04 am »
This is just a reminder to all servicing their bikes for CD 7 especially those with multiple bikes.
It is easy to get distracted while changing the oil.
So double check that you definitely
Put oil in the gear box,
Took the rag out of the air box before you installed the air filter,
Torqued up the axles and swingarm pivot bolts,
Pumped up the tyres,
Tightened the chain,
Torqued up the triple clamps,
Turn the fuel tap to off,
Torqued up the cylinder and head bolts,
Topped up the fork oil,
Adjusted the brakes,
Foot peg return springs work,
Handle bar ends are plugged,
Throttle returns to idle by spring,
Steering head bearings are tight,
Intake manifold is tight without air leaks,
Locktited all nuts and bolts and
installed the springs on that new muffler

If not done this stuff could ruin your whole time at CD so take the time and go over it again.

Good luck and tight nuts

Hey Ji, there's a few points you've made where I would suggest 'adjust' rather than tighten. Also what I find is a must is to have a list of items not to leave home without, like I often seem to do. Over the years i've managed to leave behind things like boots, helmet! plug spanner, money, caution, route map the list goes on as i'm sure others will attest to cheers wally.
dont follow me i'm probably off line!

Hi Wally,
Very true mate.
I started another thread about what to put into your kit bag to help prevent forgotten items.

When pumping up or checking tyre pressure make sure to check the rim locks are nice and tight.

I could start another list of what not to do.
At the top of the list would be Don't Armor all your seat.
If you have trouble staying in the saddle now wait till you armor all the seat.

Good luck and tight nuts
