Anyone looking for parts would do well to contact Brit Spares in NZ. they have huge inventory and great service
Absolutely Marc....I've been dealing with them on and off for years and have had nothing but good experiences with 'em.
When I was looking for a 32mm Amal concentric carb for my 500 Triumph Metisse they supplied it for almost half the price anyone in the UK or USA could do it for.
Meanwhile, I've had a success of sorts with the Cheney side panels situation that sent me over the shit tolerance edge. A fellow Cheney owner in California who bears a similar dissatisfaction of Simon Cheney has jigged up to make his own panels and will be supplying a pair for me once his current projects are out of the way. As well my old friend Per Klitland, who's an old school craftsman sheety as well as being a bit of a riding legend has volunteered to make another pair in a slightly different style. Both of these blokes have pride in their work and were disgusted at the shit Cheney passed off as craftsman built product.
In yet another example of British workmanship and service my Kiwi mate has been involved in a year long battle with a well known Brit frame builder and tank restorer (
not Cheney) over the BSA B44 tank he got from them. The paint started to lift soon after he got it and even before it had any fuel in it. I could have done a better job with a rattle can quite frankly. Eventually the tank restorer sent a replacement tank that was a different shape to the original so that drama still continues. As the intro to the old 50s detective show Naked City once said...."this city* has 8 million stories and this is one of them" *
