Identify guard ?
« on: June 09, 2009, 08:09:37 am »
This guard came on one of my PE175 parts bikes..........is it some model PE or an aftermarket ? It's slightly shorter than a Preston Petty, but exactly the same shape and size and has moulded mounts for a triangular shaped taillight.

it might be an earlier version of a Petty with just the rear section cut off, or if could be a european copy such as Stilmotor, M.Robert. Falk or UFO. There were and still are a couple Manufacturers who were making fenders in particular that rear one that appeared to be copies of preston pettys guards or was it the otherway around?

are there any markings under the guard?

im sure i have pictures i have printed off of that exact guard wiht those lens mounting but i would have to try and find that info i have printed off.

This is a Stilmotor A43

Yep I have a couple of these old preston petty guards and there all have the end cut off. They used to split on the end so we just cut them off. On the old Hodakas you had to cut the front of them off to make them fit into the inner guard. Darcy
I might not be winning,But I'll be grinning
