times that by 2. ;D i will put a photo up here so you know what we are looking for

these pics should be good enough. i have plenty more to use for verification if needed though

yeah it looks the same as TS185ER, but the part numbers are different. i think its just the shape of the bracket thats different to suit the larger curve of the PE fender but the TS fender is more flat. Even the lens/light assembly is different to the TS, but im not sure why.

French X models and UK 175 Z models also had this light.

there must be heaps of these somewhere stashed in peoples sheds because all Australian model 82-84 175 full floaters had this light too.
If we can find at least one i will get it drawn up in CAD so they can be made from sheet metal.

PE400Z taillight is 35720-40650  for E24 (Australia)  quite a different / huge / ugly beast!!

what the heck is/was a 406 model? some LTV thing? if we knew that, maybe we could source one.

the other usual one for PE400Z are E1 (general) and E6 (South Africa)
E1 and 35720-40500 and E6 35710-40513
are taillight only and taillight+stop repectively.

I don't have any photos of the E24 PE400Z tail :-(
Just put the Parts Catalogue scan of that page up onto my Pure Enduro Skydrive under PE400Z.

whats the 406 mean? where is that written?

the normal Z market lights were the same rubber ones as the 81 X

you are correct! Just prompted me to look at the PE175E parts catalogue and YES, it is the same item.
Now I did happen to get the PE175E Owners Manual today...
let me see if it has any photos of said tail-light.

i saw one on france ebay a while back but ran out of time to organise bidding on it when it was a ship to france only and no paypal auction which made it hard. Yeah it does look similar to XT 500. They clearly would have started with a TS 185/250ER tail light bracket and modified it from there. I will look at my 185 bracket to see if there is clearly just one major difference. it could just be one different bracket spot welded to another.

the reason for the big tail light was because of tightening ADR rules. the bigger light for visibilty, clear number plate light and to have a brighter globe. if you but a brighter globe in the rubber lights the lens melts!. got one in the mail today and the lens was melted in the center from the extra heat. Dont know wht they didnt fit a decent headlight to the front while they were at it instead of the pissy 15/15watt candle ::)

Michael, dont go mounting one of these lights to your fender until you get that little bracket that goes over the frame loop ( see above photo) and also you need the big metal brace that goes under the fender to support the heavier metal tail light.

need one to copy though. no point just guessing otherwise you may as well just stick something else on. thats what pisses me off with repro parts. you either make it exact as original coping an original otherwise why bother just getting it half right.
