nnoooo Scotty,dont use clip joining link ,just push (pin punch) a pin out of old chain,(dont grind)you need good steel plate with a small guide hole,do the same to the replacement new chains pin,but not all the way out,join new to old run it through the motor,(or as Bruce states wire them prob easier) flick old,& align side plates,then push pin back through,the fact that chain pins are "staked",once you get it back through the plate,guage same amount of side clearance as rest of chain,it cant come undone as theres basically no side load,only push pull loads,i use multigrips on small cam chains to crush the pin back through,then pinpunch for final adjustment,done it this way forever,even hy vo multi plate chains same same ,get stuck i'm at cooranbong if you need a hand or guideance,
