front end conversion

Reading the latest vmx magazine,I saw that a readers ride kx440 had a yz front end conversion and it made me wonder if it is very hard to do or if anyone has done this.

Its an easy conversion Josh , the twin leading Yamaha brake is hard to find .

It would be overkill on your KLX though . Fit some easy to get 38mm forks from a Yamaha and use the Yamaha SLS front brake , easy to get and way better than those shit Kawasaki front brakes  :)

Thanks Bill,I've already got 2 twin leading wheels and a brake so just thought the 43mm be a good choice,what are the 38mm Yamaha forks off? Yz d-g?

38mm Yammie forks came on lots of things. IT175J/K, YZ250/400/465D~G, YZ125H~K, and at least some IT250/465 (not sure when the bigger ITs went to 38mm forks, but they were 43mm on the K model).
But be aware that they all have the angled lug for the backing plate, while most TLS backing plates are the horizontal lug type.

Be aware that Yamaha forks are short in overall length. Whilst the travel can be the same the overall is too short , for bikes like KTM and Huskies. It changes the angle to much.
Current bikes. KTM MC 250 77 Husky CR 360 77, Husky 82 420 Auto Bitsa XR 200 project. Dont need a pickle just need to ride my motorcickle

In that case, YZ250/465G forks are the answer - they're stupidly long. I think IT250/465H/J are similar.

Whilst they appear long , on some models , do the math. Fitted a pair of 43 mm with twin shoe Yamaha to a 81 KTM 495 only to work out after a while why it sucked in the corners, re measured it all up and found it 20mm to low, Having said that I have YZ D forks in my 77 KTM with Yamaha front wheel. Just remember overall length is important.
