Recommended boilermakers in Perth
« on: May 18, 2016, 12:55:44 pm »
Can someone please recommend a good boilermaker in Perth who will assist me with some mods to my 1975 cr125m frame. I require the rear frame loop to be bent up and some small welding jobs. I have only been messed around so far. Someone who has a passion for Vintage bikes would be ideal.

Thanks, Peely!!!

Ask Ray Easson motorcycle engineering, if he can't help you directly then he might know who would.

I would keep my frame away from a boilermaker as far as I can. Boilermakers butcher things. You should be looking for a motorcycle frame builder or so. Some one who can use more than a stick welder and oxy torch.

Boilermakers do heavy fabrication where if it doesn't fit or there is a gap they get a bigger hammer or fill it with weld.

People that do lighter fabrication, motorcycle frames or even an older panel beater are what you need.

I think Geoff Morris was trained as a boilermaker.

Yes you are right and it doesn't mean someone trained as a Boilermaker can't learn the skills to do finer work, but generally speaking a Panel Beater or even a Fitter and Turner usually has the finer skills for frame or pipe work.
