Yamaha DT 250 C Rear Sprocket
« on: January 25, 2016, 11:25:14 PM »
I am having trouble locating a new replacement rear sprocket for a  Yamaha  DT 250 C . The local seller can only source an 62mm ID sprocket-whereas the one I have removed has a 60mm ID .

The PCD for the bolt holes is Ok -but the ID is wrong... This problem is causing me anxiety, can anyone shed light onto the problem please?

Thanks
James

Try Les Penna motorcycles in Bendigo, long time Yamaha dealers that carried a lot of genuine sprockets from that era, 0354435375. I just picked up a genuine nos yz80 sprocket from them, paid a bit for it, but they had it and it was the correct item.

Try a bike shop that deals with Link International, Cykel Parts Suppy or Ficeda accessories. Link list tooth count of 46T for 3Y1 prefix. Generally it will be JT brand but if its real old stock it might come as a Link or Unico brand, made in Japan. Shops these days may not have what you want in stock for an older model but their catalogues will list it and they can order it in from the main warehouse for you. Might only be a few days wait.

I just went through the whole JT Sprocket spec book (Link) there is nothing in a 520 pitch with a 60mm id. The 3Y1 they list for the DT250A-C is 62mm id and has a genuine Yamaha reference #30X. Maybe you could use a spacer in the centre,  the 3Y1 come in 40,43,45,46,47,49 and 51 teeth.
hope this helps.

Thanks gents.
The sprocket is harder to source than I would have expected.
I am considering making an interference fit sleeve [od  62mm] for the cush drive.
I think that will fix the problem-the hard way....
