Just picked up on this thread, the original Rickman Metisse frames are chromemoly however they are the same thickness as steel frames', and chromemoly is slightly heavier then normal steel, heavier metal types in the content.
This is all quite strange when you consider chromemoly is twice the strength and normal practice is to use half the thickness to reduce weight!
Perhaps the Rickman Brothers didn't want them to ever fail.

1 x 1980 Kawasaki SR500 43mm fork with mag lower leg =3.5kg..............1 x 1981 Yamaha IT175 36mm fork = 4.5kg.....no wonder works bikes where light.
