I apologise if I sticking my nose in here. But where in the MOMS does it say Classic Dirt Track bikes can't have a disc brake from the period the bike is in. Please note GCR 18.6.01. (n (i&ii). Classic Pre 75 MX & DT sidecars are permitted disc brakes manufactured before 31st Dec 1974 page 169. There is no where else in the Chapter (18) that mentions brakes apart from EVO.

Please note the wording for each period. "Acceptable for Pre 60 or 65 or 70 or 75 class are machines and components built up to and including the 59 or 64 or 69 or 74 model."

There was a bloke running a triumph at the 011 Aussie titles at bris with a disc and the word from the steward was ok but if a protest is lodged you could be in trouble.
If at first you don't succeed, lower your standards.

If the disc brake was from the period the bike was built why would there be a problem?

The 'no disc' rule seems to have disappeared from MoMs. In the only old MoMs I could find from 2001 and 2008 the rule states: "Disc brakes as originally fitted by manufacturers (Rokon, Dalesman and Tyron/Wassell"  Seeing that the paragraph has now been removed one would assume that the rule"All major components must have been manufactured within the period or be replicas of components manufactured within the period, specified for the class in which the machine competes......" except, I can't find it in the current MoMs either, I took the rule verbatim from the 2008 book. Why these important rules have been removed is a mystery but I think we would now be safe in saying that period disc brakes would be allowed in pre 75 and pre 78 dirt track and, if one really wanted to push it, motocross.

I may not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it.

Yes/maybe except for EVO which says

a) No linkage suspension
b) No disk (spelt wrong) brakes
c) Air cooled motors

On another subject is it time to introduce a cheap entry level class open to TS 185s and DT175s. Both are eligible for EVO regardless of what year they are manufactured.
