I've got a 250GM that i've had for about 25years. The motor/ frame combo appears original.
Eng No: PM49202582
Frame No: PB18001485
Stamps appear original.
Any help?

Cheers
Mick

My 370 engine has a 4 stamped over the 193 making it into a M493. Can't recall the frame its off at the painters. Gearbox was a wide ratio, so I had to convert it back to a close ratio box as I want to use it for MX.

It did have a compliance plate but unfortunately it's been removed at some time before I bought it.

No real problem though as it'll end up as my pre78 racer (complete with gold/red paint and Frontera toolbox)

Any ideas as to how many were imported and how many might be still around?

My understanding was that they were left over Pursangs fitted with a mag, lighting kit and frontera bodywork. I was hoping that it still had the close ratio 'box. I last rode it years ago and remember that it was quite quick but can't recall how the gearing felt. It also had a Pursang pipe at the time.

Cheers

mick , they had a pursang pipe with an extra silencer on the end , unsure of the tran but as u say they were left over mk 10 pursangs over stamped with a 4 it,s hard to imagine the factory splitting them and changing the gears ,but it,s possible , but it,ll work geared up anyway, i have an alpina tran (same as 360/370 frontera) in my mk 2 pursang   just use 2nd gear to start ,
