No definative answer but in French T refers to 2-temps = 2 strokes = 2T and 4-temps = 4 strokes = 4T , Spanish = Tiempo, German = Takt used to describe a clock cycle and with physics T is the symbol used for period or cycle. It seems English is the odd one with the word stroke where as 2T and 4T make it almost globally identifiable. Your guess is as good as mine
There ya go....I too wondered what the origin of 2t/4t was but too shy to ask. Thanks doctor.
