Mark, what would be the differents between a 69 maico frame and a later 71,72,73,maico  frame. And what would need to chance
on a later frame to make eligible for pre 70.

Dave without getting into the complexities of wide frame/narrow frame....I think you'd be pretty right with any frame made prior to the '74 LTR.

pre 70 Dt1 engine, are these engine and frames where built from 1968 to , So if a 70 or 7,72,73 model can be used in pre 70 class as long as it has a square wingarm fitted, the bike is eligible am l right or wrong. The flow on model rule should apply to this model.

Dave, any piston port DT1/RT1 engine is eligible for pre '70. Initially the stipulation was that you needed a 'square' swingarm but when the RT1 became eligible for pre '70 through the flow on rule, the 'square' swingarm requirement became superflous as the RT1 didn't ever come with one. I've got a square swingarm on my 'DT1 from Hell' (although it's not fitted in the photos) as I built the bike prior to the RT1's inclusion in pre '70.

Thanks Mark, for info. I checked the currant rule and it still states square wingarm.

Dave, thats the irony of the situation. If you take the rule literally, yes you must have a square swingarm in your DT1. But seeing that the round section swingarm equipped RT1 is also legal by the rulebook, what's to stop you fitting an identical (except for the swingarm) RT1 frame under your DT1 engine? This is another example of the need to tidy up the rulebook by getting rid of the square swingarm requirement.

This is the vintage commision job to note these area and week points and have them removed.

The rule actually says that to be pre-70 legal, a DT1 must have fit one of the following criteria:
1.)  A piston port barrel and a square swing arm
OR
2.) A piston port barrel.

Obviously, the second option makes the first completely redundant.
The good thing about telling the truth is that you don't have to remember what you said.

My pre 70 RT1 and should be back in action at Nepean at least this year.

Look out super seniors!   That nice comfortable dual seat will be like sitting on an arm chair along with a full 4 inches or so travel in the suspension compared to the ride on my slider.
cheers pancho.
