PE400 vs RM400 seat base

Can anyone tell me:

Is the PE400 and RM400 seat base the same? Therefore will the RM seat base fit on my PE without modification? Along with that will a new RM foam fit on my PE base?

I think they are different I think vintage suzuki or dc plastics sell pe foam and seatcover a base isn't to hard to come by ebay.com the 250txz is the same as the 400.

Do you know if the bases are the same ie the 250TXZ is the same as the PE400 which is the same as the RM400?

Seat bases  PE 250 /400 T-X *  will interchange  with    RM 250 /400T *                 * note rear mount brackets are different -  can be an easy fix if you are changng seat cover.

the pe 250txz is the same as pe 400 identical as are the frames bar numbers and comp. plate.

To use RM400/250 seat you will need the RM fuel tank too. I reckon all you need to do is pop rivet the brackets in different spots on the base. In all the original RM250/400 photos ive seen, the RM, seat foam looks a different shape to the PE. The RM foam looks lower and narrower at the front and the PE foam is more of a square block.

Basically if your missing a seat and trying to find a 400 seat and wondering if RM is the same, well its not, just stick to looking for a PE250/400 seat which would be easier to find than a 79/80 RM seat anyway.
