I'm in Brisvegas, givvus a yell on [email protected] if you like.
Thanks!

Don't worry!! Found something..... what would we do without ebay???

Gudday all,
Just testing the collective knowledge pool...
So I've gone to change the gearbox oil in the mighty 2000 model WR360 and it's come out silver. Lots and Lots of metal chips and shavings. Really ugly. The motor is about due for a complete rebuild so I'm thinking I'll suck it in, get a complete like new rebuild and she'll last another 8 years I hope. No way I'll ever sell this one!
So my question is, who do I trust to do the job well for a reasonable cost? I live in Brisbane but am not worried if I have to box the motor up and send it somewhere. Any one have any good experiences lately? No one that I know of really instills great gobs of confidence into me locally.. Suggestions anyone? I'm happy to do top ends etc but this'll be a split the cases, new main and rod and what ever's gone wrong in the 'box kinda job.
Thanks!

Husqvarna / 1985 CR 500 carb question
« on: June 14, 2008, 10:36:42 am »
Gudday all, I just need to sample the collective knowledge pool a little...
I've finally tracked down and received a cylinder for my 1985/86 water cooled cr500, had the rear shock rebuilt, front forks rechromed, frame powder coated, cracks in swingarm tig welded, plastics from DC plastics and sourced a minty pipe. No more excuses, time to start building. But I haven't got a carb for it.
Anyone know what the carb for the 1985 1986 husky cr500 was? I'm pretty sure it was a 40mm Mikuni but was it round slide (VM series) or flat slide (TM series) Anyone got any jetting specs for the same?
Obtaining a carb is not too difficult, but knowing the baseline jetting specs would be a good thing.

General Discussion / Where are they hiding???
« on: June 02, 2008, 03:04:42 pm »
Rightio, I gots me a huge lump of envy and admiration.
The other day in between tearing up fifty dollar notes in the dirt I took notice of something. In the club I'm of member of (does tact demand that I omit it's name?) there is several standout members of the fairer sex that have me open mouthed with admiration. They turn up with their partners/husbands and sometimes children, help unload bikes, act as club officials, help out at the sign in tent, help at the scrutineering, sell raffle tickets, smile and laugh at all our dumb jokes, look shit hot, don't get flustered, walk around and socialize with just about everyone, look after someone elses kids while they get something to eat and make sure the significant other is supported/fed and encouraged accordingly! AND he's mostly  ignored her because the jetting is not right, flux capacitor/wobbulator or whatever is broken and she goes home happy at a good day out!
Struth! ;D ;D ;D
How did you blokes find them?? Has she got a twin sister?? ;D ;D ;D
Is it sexist to make the observation that these girls are the exception to the rule? What bloody champions!! Your bloods worth bottling. I'm  happy to trade ya........

Oh, Forgive them lord. They weld on kickstarters. They weld on sprockets. They force on imperial fasteners to metric threads...

A rare as a virgin in Fortitude Valley, (In Oz anyway) CR500. I've sent an email for the engine and frame no.s so stay tuned. If anyone else is gunna bid on this, givvus a yell so we don't force each other into stupid money.

Husqvarna / Can I sneak this in here???
« on: November 12, 2007, 09:03:06 pm »
Not quite vmx  but it is Huskamarvarna. ;)
I acquired another project... sigh. I can't help myself. At least now I can limit myself to working on one at a time. SO,I have for sale in pieces boxed nicely a complete 1988 wr430. It's gotta go as the new project is more important/collectable. (another husky) I just finished completely stripping this as I was about to send the frame to the powder coaters. It was running before I dismantled it but two gears have decided not to get along so well in such close quarters. Quite fixable. Just very ugly.  I have a 1988 magazine review that rates these as a great enduro bike. I'll believe 'em!
Anyone interested? Anyone want any bits? Before I hit fleabay?
I haven't told the minister for war and finance about the new project yet so use that as your bargaining tool. I don't want much for it, about 400 to 500 bucks?? Sound fair? It's in Brisvegas.

Gudday,
I got's to know.  ;D How DO you get a bike from the USA to Australia? Who has done it and how was it done? What are the traps to look out for? I had a introduction to Aussie customs 101 earlier this year with something I bought on fleabay and it's an eye opening experience. 10 pages of forms, no exaggeration, and 400 plus bucks for the privilege not including the GST so it's something I'd like to go into heads up.
Any help or pointers greatly appreciated.

General Discussion / The moral challenge, or Help me be strong........
« on: October 05, 2007, 06:50:54 pm »
Rightio then,
I need help.
Ya see, me mates off up north goose stepping, painting rocks and getting the dirt outta Sargent Klinks hole courtesy of the Army reserve. Now he's spotted a big banger 495 kato and bought it. Then asked me to go and pick it up while he learns how to defend Grandma Klampit from Osama Bin Bush and mates.
So right now, in my very own shed is a 1981 Kato big banger. Fresh meat tyres. Full of fuel and ready to go. Now every morning I gotta walk past it to get to the car to go to work.
It's killin me!!! ;D ;D ;D

This weekend I got nothin. No bloody weddings, no crazy errands or christenings for cousin Billy Bob twice removed BUT two whole days to ride bikes.

What's a man to do?????

General Discussion / Bloody FleaBay!! Or anyone live in Ol Blighty?
« on: September 17, 2007, 10:18:27 pm »
So I'm as happy as a dog with two tails this morning. I've managed to win a cylinder and head for my 500xc Husky for only forty something pounds or about 100 bucks. The guy sends me an invoice for the item plus postage which I pay immediately. You bloody beauty, a spare jug and head for about 140 bucks. How good is that??!!
Should've known better.
Freakin pommy prick sends me a email tonight, and I quote:

>the post is £100 for a 9.5kg parcel
>so you owe me £95 to be payed in full by paypal before posting can comence
>thankyou for your purchase

What do I do? I have the receipt from paypal that I've paid his invoice in full. I've emailed him saying that I appreciate mistakes are made, could he reconsider? What do you reckon, would a jug and head weigh 9.5kilo's? 95 quid is 226 bucks. !!!!
Not happy. My only real hope right now is that Mr Mortlock and the boys serve out a little colonial justice and teach 'em how to play real rugby without a hand holding pansy freak kicking freak goals..... ;) ;) ;) ;)

Husqvarna / Fork oil quantity..
« on: September 07, 2007, 06:52:27 pm »
Gudday all,
Anyone know what quantity/level of fork oil for the '83 40mm forks? Can't find the spec anywhere. Rob?  Found the change destructions and the recommended weights but not the amount. The best I could find was 450 to 470 mls, but that was for '88 forks which are a whole different ball game.
Thanks

Introductions / Gudday
« on: August 06, 2007, 10:07:50 pm »
Gudday all,
Just wanted to introduce myself. Started riding when my Dad bought me my first bike at 4 years old, a Honda (forgive him lord, he knew not what he did) atc70.
Have done the normal run of road rockets and dirt bikes, too many. Little bit of road racing in the 90's and a lot of dirt bikin in between. And you know, the bikes that I wish I had never sold, the ones I still would like to own? Two. My 1984 900s2 Duck and my 1984 wr500 Husky.
Got a 1983 yz490 and a 1988 wr430 in the shed amongst a 2005 kato (exceptional dirt bike, too good. Never fails, does everything very well.... yawn. Whats the fun in that?) and a 1971 T500 race bike.
The older I get, the more I appreciate the older bikes and the more I enjoy tinkering. THIS year is it. I'll sell some crap and pay my MA licence, get the yz together and go and have some FUN. See some of you at a QVMX meet soon I hope.
Regards
FatBoyCrash.
