Kawasaki / KX or SR?? Top end identification.
« on: April 18, 2017, 05:54:39 pm »
Hello.
My brothers building a -84 KX500, he has two top ends, that we thought where the same until we got them together...

The silver one is clearly bigger than the other.
The bore is the same.
The bolt patterns are the same.
The reed bolts are the same, so no -83/-84 difference.
The silver one har a coarse sandcast finish.
It has no markings, same on the head.
The ports are bigger, and is handported, as opposed to cast on the stock one.

Question of course: Can it be a SR?

Thanks, it's a 84 KX500, I was fooled by the 83 and 84 having different reedblocks.

Thanks for all the tips guys! :D

I'll look into the carparts then.

I just hope it isn't super thick reinforced rubber in them.

The YZ part looks great, only I think it's a bit short, I'd really like the joint to airfilter to be well inside the cover.

I just want plain oldscool rubber, no high gloss or coloured silicone.

Preferably a bit longer than this one, so I don't have to use the alloy tube.

Tech Talk / 90* Airfilterbend
« on: May 08, 2016, 07:18:18 am »
Hello.
I just started making sidecovers for my Cheney Honda XL350 sideport.
I need a 90 degree bend from the carb (Mikuni 36) to the airfilter (through the sidecover)
Any ideas where or from what bike I can find one??
Thanks :)
