Honda / Re: XR350
« on: October 09, 2022, 11:32:06 am »
I was thinking that if I could find an XR350 that didn't have the rod out the front of the cases already, I would replace the rod with a Carrillo or something similar and put it into a '78 CR250 frame that I have with an MR250  tank and make another Vinduro bike....at one stage I had a dozen XR350 motors, all with the rod through the front engine mount...

....OK, got a pipe, looks like the airbox is underway, maybe got a seat, so now I'm looking at the tank.....does anyone know who restores the Husky tanks, especially the " chrome" side panels and of course the paint and lettering??

A bloke I work with is rebuilding a '75 MX400B and needs a flywheel and stator, so does anyone know where to find one or would a DT400 one work?

Tech Talk / Desert gearing for old Huskies
« on: May 18, 2019, 01:26:01 pm »
I'm looking for sprocket sizes ( No. of teeth ) that the American desert racers used in the '70s for their old 400/450 WR's.
As I intend using my '75 WR400 on the road, I'd like to gear  it up a bit.  Some years back I rode a 360 Montesa, ex- US desert racer, belonging to Ron Merrick......it took some winding out but that thing would do 130 MPH....and very scary   :o

....as I put in the wanteds........looking for a sidestand, to buy or even borrow so I can copy it.

That is the air box I'm looking for, and it is a Honda front wheel.   I'm not worried about the Honda wheel at this point as it gives me a speedo.  I'm basically restoring the bike to get it rego'd here in Tassie. Preston Petty lights front and rear, speedo and trials tyres.
I just want to ride it around instead of having it sit in the shed.

Next question.....does anyone know what shape the airbox is supposed to be??......Rob, Snowy, anyone?......I've seen them with at least three different shapes.
