Husqvarna / Color codes and spoke lengths
« on: October 11, 2014, 02:33:53 am »
Hi all!

Tried browsing and searching the forum for color codes with no succes, which is strange cause i know they must be here somwhere. What I´m looking for is colorcodes for frame and hubs on a -82 Husky. Also wondering if I could use the same spoke lengths when relacing the back wheel with a new rim, gonna use a SM Pro Platinium rim.

Cheers!

What spoke lengths do you reckon I need for rebuilding a YZ490 front wheel (double knock drum brake hub) with a SM PRO Platinium rim? Could i go with the same length spokes (original) or do you think I will need different lengths?

Thank´s for all the good input!

As I was saying before I´m not buying, can't say I'm not interested cause that would be a lie :-D. Just can't afford it with a shed full of junk (2* unrestored Curtis Hondas, 1* unrestored 1979 Honda CR125 in crates, 1 Suzuki DRM project etc...) and the shed doesn't look to good either :-) Just interested in what the bike would be worth since it's really unusual finding one with that low hours, especially other brands than Husqvarna.

Gaaah, I kind of want that bike don't I!?!?

Take care folks  ;)

Best I can do is direct you straight to the ad. Poor picture quality, can't for instance tell wheater it's on the original rubbers or not. The rest looks stock to me but I'm not really that good at figureing those things out.

I'm not selling, not buying, got my shed full of junk :-D just curious whether it's an ok price. Not that often you find a late seventies bike with that low hours on it.

here's the ad: http://www.blocket.se/ostergotland/Honda_250_Elsinore__79_40389301.htm?ca=23_8&w=3
seller asking 35 000 SEK which equals to 4 723,92 AUD.

Same guy is also selling this supposedly factory yamaha 360 1974 and is asking 70 000 SEK = 9 447,84 AUD which I find... quite on the high side? Ad here: http://www.blocket.se/ostergotland/Yamaha_360__74_40389043.htm?ca=23_8&w=3

What you reckon a 1979 250 Elsinore would be worth? It's been used for between 5-10 hours and that's it. Needless to say the bike is in great condition.

Cheers!

P.S

Now instead of trying to find the bike which you propably won't, unless you speak swedish and are acustomed to swedish website www.blocket.se, please gimme a "guesstimation". I saw within how people started freneticaly searching the internet for Honda ads wondering if they missed something :-D

Really nice bike!

What ignition system you use? Internal rotor or external? Changed from standard Motoplat internal rotor system to Sem external system on my -82 CR488 and that was a true revelation. Before the change the bike behaved like a 125 on steroids. The bike pulled from really low rpms after the change. Furthermore I installed a copper basegasket to lower the compression some (can't remember thickness of gasket though) and that made the bike really smooth and very predictable when giving throttle. I believe the 430 would respond similar to those changes. Biggest improvement was the ignition system with external rotor for better spark on low revs.

Those changes made atleast me alot faster around the track...

Thanks for the quick answear LWC  :D

Well, how about the older CR's? 78 and older, any of these shorter than 400mm?
When it comes to service, I know a guy who´s certified by Ohlins, and no matter what state the shocks I get my hands on I thought I´d let him give ém a lookover before installing them.

Howdy folks

Simple question, how long are the Ohlins shocks on a 1979 CR and a 1980 CR?

Thanks...

Might very well that way with TT500 cams but if you want Megacycle to hook you up with a DR400 cam you have to send them your old one, atleast according to their pricelist. So for me I guess it would be much easier to get one from Phil Joy, living in Sweden as I am.

Thought any about my suggestion Cloggman  ;) ? You should check out the springs in Megacycles list as well, might be what you´re looking for...

Cloggy!

I would be very interested in a Phil Joy cam. I live in sweden, how do I get in contact with him (Phil Joy), aprox how is it (the cam). Megacyclecams have beefed up springs if I´ve understood their pricelist correctly, which oughta suit the application. Perhaps I should just wire you the money alongside with my adress and wait patiently like a child for christmas  ;)

Now we´re talking  ;D

Cloggy, my pinkie for those specs? Fair enough? Seriously I´d be truly grateful if I could partake in those jetting specs.

What´s this about Megacycle not doing affairs with foreigner? I was just gonna ordrer me a new cam next month  ??? They can´t be serious, can they?

Thanks for the help.

Will propably try to run the old tubes till I get a few bucks to spare. Seems that Alpha-sport produce new ones for 375usd. I have to send them one of the originals for them to copy and with the freight costs to the US, back toll and all it will ad up...
