Thanks again VERi for organising a new event that was exceptional value considering accommodation was thrown in. (Ear plugs next year if I'm in the dorm!)

Great single track riding with good hills and those slippery roots caught me out a few times. Frosty morning turned into great weather and by the looks on everyone' s faces the track was enjoyed by all.

I didn't realise that Tex had rolled his ute helping recover a bike at Blackwood so there were some stickers available thanks to Serge (I think?) to help fund the repairs.

If you see these at Harrow please grab one for your toolbox as without the dedication from the VERi guys we wouldn't be able to enjoy these events!

Agreed - it was a great loop! Those big hills at the start were so much fun in the dry compared to when they were wet and muddy.

A bit of everything from tight stuff to fast sections and nothing really hard. Great views from some locations and an interesting mix of terrain overall. Had a blast!

Tex was right about the grin factor heading into the pine sections, it was fun chasing the orange dots and squashing toadstools.

Got off to a bit of a late start thanks to locking my bl##dy keys in the car but the nice RACV man didn't take too long to arrive.

A big thumbs up and thanks to VeRI and associated crew for putting on another great event and look forward to doing it again next year!

Good times and great conditions.

Thanks to VERi for a great event - shame we weren't allowed more single track by the authorities but what there was was enjoyable (a bit cheeky making us dismount to get under those 2 logs!). Nice and fast flowing tracks, and the hills were really enjoyable as opposed to my struggles 2 years ago in the wet!

Thanks to all the volunteers/sweeps and cheers Tex for keeping an eye out at the road crossing.

Had a blast and reminded me why I love these events. Can't wait for Beaufort!

Thanks for all the replies guys,

matcho mick: The barrel is really stuffed, I don't think even a big bore would be possible  :-\

Nathan S: Thanks for the info, I have ordered from Partzilla a few times - it's a fantastic resource for part no's. Partshark and Thumpertalk are also really good (I think that they actually are better when looking at your order status, Thumpertalk customer service was good when I ordered parts). Partzilla normally works out cheaper though.

TT5 Matt: Thanks for the offer, I'll send you a pm :)

OverTheHill: Talk about a Frankenbike! Well done. I am riding a 1980 PE175 in the interim and am enjoying it!

Wanted / 1981-83 XR200R / XR200 cylinder (two-valve model)
« on: August 20, 2015, 05:45:28 pm »
After getting me through many vinduros the little XR is in need of a serious birthday.

Harrow was the final straw with plumes of smoke spewing from the poor thing as it tried to emulate the faster 2-strokes and a blown rear shock didn't help. Pulled up stumps at the second fuel dump on Saturday. Thankfully I had a PE to take on a successful maiden ride on Sunday. Talk about a shakedown test!

Anyway, haven't split the cases yet, no doubt the bearings are shot but right now I am looking for a barrel as this picture will attest:

If anyone has a cylinder that is in a serviceable condition please let me know.

If anyone knows whether a later two-valve (86-on?) barrel fits, information would be appreciated. I might post in the Honda forum as well regarding this.

I'll be at Blackwood next weekend on the off chance that anyone can bring one along.

Cheers .. Jules

Missed you at Broadford Tex, hopefully catch you for a beer Saturday night.

Can't make the Saturday session unfortunately due to some family commitments.

Looking forward to the ride on Sunday!

Christ......some people should never be allowed near ANY motorcycle. Think they spent more time masking areas for different colours than what it would of taken to do the job properly. Bastards I tell ya!

Seriously, it takes about half an hour - taking your time - to pull the motor out of one of these whilst enjoying a few refreshments.

Always gotta love the "just needs a carby kit to run" spiel....

I wonder what happened to the 6th gear?  ::)

Thanks and good to see another club up in NSW having fun. Missed Harrow last year but the year before was my first ever enduro. With a bike timed at full advance that did not like starting (too many cooks in the kitchen at rebuild time) it was character building to say the least. Can't wait for Harrow 2015.

Yeah, looking forward to the red plate ride as last year I had not yet registered the XR.

Looking forward to a couple of sessions on the road track on my XS650 on Saturday and a few loops of the enduro track and grass track, but really looking forward to the Sunday ride. Hopefully won't be too hungover but that hasn't stopped me so far!

Hey crew,

I have recently started riding dirt bikes (long time road rider). I have an '81 XR200R that I have been plodding along in the VERi events the last year or so. I'm also rebuilding an '80 PE175. Not to the immaculate standard I have seen some members achieve, just rebuilding to be reliable in the vinduros (as I tend to drop them a fair bit!).

Checked out the last VMX event at Clarkefield and it looked fun. Wouldn't mind having a crack in the non-competitive session this year. It will be a while yet until I'd be game enough to enter a race, that's for sure. It's entertaining to watch though. For the time being I'm happy plodding along in the vintage enduro events! Might even see some of you guys out there at the Broadford Bonanza in a couple of weeks for the red plate ride on Sunday.

Cheers .. Jules
