Tech Talk / Re: CARBY CLEANER
« on: September 11, 2014, 06:02:06 pm »
hey i bought a wr 250 that had been stood for four years or so ,i worked at the nrma workshop in town at the time and we had a product the we had to put through subarus on a service its called upper engine cleaner we used subaru gen we bought by the box not that expensive ,it was injected in the inlet manifold via a vacum pipe ,it smelled ver much like amonia, they said it was to clean the varnish off valve stems to stop sticking valves ,the fuel in the caby on the wr had dried up and wouldnt budge with carby or brake clean ,but this stuff was the shit it dissolved it in no time ,you can get it from repco engine conditioner its called ive not used that one but is supposed to be for the same application its on offer for a box too at the moment hope this helps

the oil on the pipe and cured is good ,its like seasoning your camp cook pot if you use a high temp oil find one as clear as you can just keep rubbing on after cleaning the bike after a ride we did it back in the eighties in england very damp place you only had to go in the house to defrost you fingers after washing your bike come back out and your trick pro curcuit pipe was already turning ,mi old grandad said ,rub a bit o oil on it son and it never went rusty again it dose brown up a touch down low but thats character

Tech Talk / crud in radiators
« on: September 11, 2014, 05:44:20 pm »
Hello all i am just on with cleaning up an 88 cr 125 ,which has the usual problem of the corroded impeller housing for the cooling system ,i am trying to find another housing ,i think up to 96 would fit and is it from 89 they changed to aluminum ,i was cleaning and flushing the radiators last night and found crud stuck in the water rails inside you can only see through the rad cap hole ,i gave the rails a poke with a wiper blade strip and it broke up ,seems the crud is the same as is coating the impeller ,water does flow through pretty good with hose pipe ,but i think it would be wise to try and get rid of the deposits, the rads are in otherwise mint condition not even the fins are flattened over as the bike has had very little use ,does anyone know of a product i can maybe leave in the rads to dissolve then flush them out,my local rad guy says he would have to saw the caps off then weld  them back together not sure how oem they would look after that ? some one must have come across this as all mid eighties hondas have the soft metal problem

ok i have searched around a little and couldnt fine any thing about the tyres ,y e will tacke some pictures this week end and post them up i have cleand up the frame and waxed it as yamba is so corrosive surounded by the sea it has boot wear and a few other marks but i was toying with painting it but how would you get the colour number for it ,but it would only wear in the same spots when i ride it anyway ,funny it still has a cover for the airbox under the seat  that says on the sticker use in wet weather or something to that effect ,i had an 87 back in 88 and i never remember any of them
