Great photo's Geoff.. I think some of those shots are on the Conondale motocross track. Didn't Dave Armstrong win outright that year?

Yes I think you are correct, a Motocross rider won the I4DE at his first attempt at Enduro.

Hey Col any chance you can get BMCC to remove the two scheduled dates for this meeting and put this date up on their Facebook page.
One of those dates is the start of August and the other the end of August

Cheers

This is the third date now.

“ The club apparently asked MA to change it “

1- BMCC asked MA to bring it forward three weeks from their original advertised date?

2- BMCC asked MA to put it back on their original advertised date?

3- Whoever is running Conondale Classic asked MA to change the date?

Because it makes no sense at all to run two big VMX events less than one week apart within two hours drive of each other.

The Australian Championship has precedents

1- No
2- As long as the twin leader was available before 1/1/95 it’s in

1. Wrong they are legal.  Ted is wrong again.  What do you expect from a Manly supporter.
2. If you are thinking of buying the billet alloy ones that come from the UK and Europe No, if you have a YZ one they are legal.

For Sale / Re: Private motocross track for sale - Victoria.
« on: November 20, 2018, 12:26:29 pm »
Selling my private motocross track, it is aprox 2km length on 20 acres. Track is vintage friendly with only medium size ski-jumps, not a flat paddock, has a couple of easy hills.

Aprox 2km to nearest residence, never any complaints in the last 4 years that l have used the track.

Track has main road frontage and in the Heathcote (Victoria) area.

l'm advertising the sale price as $210k

Can you move it to Queensland that is cheaper than the 700/800 K for Biddaddaba.

As all the events you have stated are in Queensland why not ask MQ.

Of course the answer will be the final calendar hasn't been released yet.

Like everyone says: More races at Green Park, Connondale, QLD.

More races at Conondale????

Don't you get it, what makes Conondale great is it isn't used every weekend.  yes it would be great to have five or more Conondales, but the more you use it the more flogged out it gets.

My favourite track was Echo Valley (Toowoomba), but it is a track that is used almost every weekend now and also has mid week practice.  It isn't the track it was when it was used three maybe four times a year.

Conondale is similar now it's not the track it was because it is used more than it was in the past.

QVMX had (may still have) a great track at Biddaddaba (Tabragalba) that is Natural Terrain.  It was very good. The land which was resumed by the Government for a dam (which didn't get built) is being Auctioned later this month.

Really Natural Terrain tracks only remain NT if they are not over used.

Bracket racing classes are based purely on lap times, no mater what your riding. A little more tricky in mx but a similar system could be done. A novelty at least.?

Gotcha! I like it. thanks

Maybe one class each club day based on age of the rider plus age of the bike.  That means the older rider can race a newer bike.  70 plus etc.  A twenty year old can only race a 50 year old bike etc.  At 64 I can race a Pre 95 bike.  You can do bracket racing if you have transponders but that is another cost.

Maico / Re: '81 490 gearbox ratios
« on: November 06, 2018, 11:30:33 am »
Can anyone tell me the difference between the close ratio mx gearbox (RT?) and the wide ratio enduro box (GT?). The ratios for the mx box are easy to find but I can't find any info on the enduro box. Is it an easy job to convert to an mx box? Cheers.

Ok you need someone who knows to let you know.

1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th are the same gears (number of teeth) on both a 490 MX and a 490 GS (enduro).  The difference is the fifth gear and the countershaft gear that the sprocket is on.  So there is three gears that are different. With the GS gears all the gears are slightly higher.  I know because I had a GS 490 and two motors (one in bits) that a guy had used in a Road Race bike.  I changed a GS gearbox to a RT (MX) by swapping the three gears.  The GS also runs the Bosch ignition with a heaver flywheel.

I haven't raced myself for over a year.  I would like too but most of the time with my own club I'm needed to officiate in a position that doesn't permit me to race.  Unfortunately the longer I'm off the bike the harder it becomes to get back on.

The Sunshine Coast Club only have a limited number of weekends they can run at Conondale.  They have a Club Series that I believe has Veterans and a Vintage class.  Clubs are restricted by what their members want and their lease agreements.
