For Sale / Re: Collection for sale
« on: March 27, 2025, 06:52:52 am »
Many years ago I would have loved something like that , but did not have the spare coin for it then .( He would not have sold it then anyway) Now I have the funds , but can not see the sense in having it anymore. Funny how life changes with age. I hope a young enthusiast with a good Bitcoin portfolio snaps it up and preserves the collection for the future.
Someone with Bitcoin portfolio may think that Parilla is some sort of fancy chocolate :)

What's the best way to apply threebond to the crankcase without putting too much or too little on?
I was going to use a screwdriver the other day but could not find it. So I just used my own finger to smear it on  :)

Someone from asia will buy the brand name and manufacture motorcycles. Bit like Jawa or Royal Enfield. Only problem may be that it would be harder to pick which bike to manufacture. Not sure if KTM had something that is/was as popular as Royal Enfield or Jawa. Life goes on. Saab is no longer around neither is Oldsmobile :)

helo
clutch side should go in first. use some sort of puller/pusher that is pushing on inner race to get the crankshaft in. it is not the best idea to put pressure on bearing balls(side load). once crank shaft is installed in clutch side case use the same method to install ignition side. i usually install oil seals last when engine cases are bolted together. it is easy to tap them in with socket or if you have a special tool for installing oil seal you can use that. if you try to pull cases together using case bolts you may find that crankshaft will be tight. you should be able to spin correctly installed crankshaft by two fingers(no seals installed). good luck

Any chance that your local mechanic/machinist increased compression ratio while modifiing head.  Would this motor benefit from lowering compression ratio a bit?

As you mentioned your problém apears when bike is riden aggressively. I am asuming that ignition works fine under load and higher temperature(aggressive riding). Otherwise you could not ride the bike hard.  I would štart with oem jetting and go from there. Once you change main jet than you may need to adjust needl and so on. Please let us know when you fix this issue. Good luck

And what is the reason for replacing OEM ignition?  It was designed and tuned for that motor.  PVL, Vape etc are generic ignition systems that can be fitted to many bikes but not always work better than oem. I would use PVL or so if had no other choice. You may end up putin oem ignition back if there is nothing wrong with it.

Just an update.
Got oil seals.  Pro x seal looks identical to the regular 29x47x7 double lip seal only is 1mm thicker.  Have installed pro x and it holds ok after some riding.  No excesive smoking and hopefuly no leaks. Will se how long is it going to last :)

Thank you fo reply.  Ordered Pro X seals and also find an oil seal that is 29x47x7double lipped.  That is just a milimeter thiner than OEM.  Will try Pro X first and have the rest as back up. Sould hold ok.  Later suzuki used just a regular oil seals.  Nothing fancy

Tech Talk / 79 Suzuki Rm125 crank seal

Helou
Just would like to ask Suzuki expetrs/addicts what right hand crank seal(79 Rm 125) can be used in place of the originál suzuki item.  Originál suzuki has two spring but is no longer available from partzilla or cmsnl. Would a regular double lipped seal with only one spring work just fine?
Thank you

Hello
This web site also has a needle jet chart.
https://www.thumpertalk.com/forums/topic/1224849-mikuni-tmx-needle-decoding/
Need to scroll down about half way. I got a good result drilling out not sure what size needle jet to size S-0 just by using a 2.8mm drill bit  :D

Hello
From what i understand I do agree with John's idea. Basicaly by using a piece of hose you are lowering the point(by maybe a few milimeters) from which fuel is sucked into jet (avoiding foamy fuel near top) therefore no(or much less) air bubbles are present and mixture is more consistent. Bit like when you drink freshly poured glass of beer you burp lot more but when beer is flat you burp less :)
