Tech Talk / Re: Best place to buy grinding burrs?
« on: April 29, 2015, 03:42:01 pm »
Thanks Guys,  Thanks Shane, I might like a few to keep,   :-)

I use Pferd mate. If you want them to use often and to last. I've tried just about every brand and no-name brand over the years
but keep coming back to Pferd.

As is all ways the case. I've just recently given away a heap.  Not sure what you want them for but I'll
Have a look after and see if I still have some you can have.

I stop using them as soon as they start rubbing not cutting.  But they are still fine for everyday workshop use.

Or next time you're around the corner, drop in and we can go through them.

Could anyone suggest where is the best place to buy grinding burrs?  A quality burr at a realistic price.  Chasing a cone shaped burr for grinding steel.

Thanks

What Size John, what shank and is it for a one off job?

If it's just for a one off.  I'd have something here you could use.

Great, and I'm betting it will help with engine heat as well.   If the outlet is too restrictive, the pressure in the pipe will be higher on average than it should be.  Leading to higher gas temperature in the pipe and the pipe will be resonant at a higher rpm and if it is excessively restrictive the exhaust gases will not be able to evacuate the cylinder completely by the time the transfers open and you will get hot gases traveling down the transfer feeder/ducts, mixing with and heating that mixture in the transfer ports and everything else along with it, piston cylinder and crankcase.

I have seen this more than a few times 83 KX500's was one bike that this was a problem.
And I've just recently seen it in a big bore Yamaha.  In the Yamaha there was even carbon built up in the transfer ports.
This thing knocked it's head off.  All good now..

Bla Bla Bla.  I got on a roll then.lol..  Anyway I'd love to hear how your engine heat problem is now.

A too small stinger will send an engine into pre-ignition in a very short time seconds even . Black soot in the transfers is a sign of insuffiecient blowdown angle/time area not a too small stinger. Most of the hottest exhaust gas leaves the cylinder just as the exhaust port opens(highest temp and pressure).

Yep, agree.  "  A too small stinger will send an engine into pre-ignition in a very short time seconds even".
But do you disagree.   That If the stinger and or muffler is excessively restrictive the exhaust gases will not be able to evacuate the cylinder completely by the time the transfers open and you will get hot gases traveling down the transfer feeder/ducts, mixing with and heating that mixture in the transfer ports and everything else along with it, piston cylinder and crankcase?

Just been out in the paddock having a bit of a look at the track and grass and thinking about what to do next.

I'd like to say a very big thank you to everyone, as there is no rubbish left behind.
and with that many people here over the weekend.  I think that's a great effort.  I did see a small amount on the day
but someone has obviously pick it up when they've seen it.

So to people that cleaned up.  It hasn't gone unnoticed and is very much appreciated.

Cheers Shane..

If it was a genuine apology, it wouldn't have been aired on here and rather given to the guys on the day......besides, it shouldn't have happened in the first place. NO ONE IS RACING FOR SHEEP STATIONS> I stand by my statement.

Rob made an apology to myself on the day and I accepted it. I also believe it was genuine and heartfelt.
I'm sure given his time over he would wish
it had never happened.  I'm also pretty sure when given the chance he will also offer one to the guy involved in the
spray.  I for one can say.  I have opened my mouth before putting my brain into gear more then once.

I'm in no way saying what happened is acceptable and it never should have happened.
But he was man enough to make the effort to apologise to me and I accept his apology.

Shane..

This was great. I had a ball - I'll fill in more details later, but this was like a smaller, more casual Classic Dirt. Two thumbs up to everyone who made it happen, and the Viper crew generally.

Extra special thanks to Shane.

Cheers Nathan,  Always good to meet like minded people.  I'm glad you had a good time and hopefully next time you can hang around
for the Bonfire and Sundays racing.

It was a great weekend, made possible by many.  A huge thank you to Johnny Oh, KDX Geoff, Brendan and the VIPER guys.
Also anyone that help make it possible and or helped on the day.

Hoping to make it bigger and better every year.  Most of the feedback I received was positive.

Cheers Mate.

I'll be there at 6.00am setting-up the paddock area, harden-up ya cunz  ;-)

I'll do my best to be up and about by then John.  It's been a big week.  I will need a hand to get the generators and a 15ft light pole up for the Loins club guys for Saturday night.  So if after some people have set up.  I'd very much appreciate some help.

Cheers Shane.

I'll ride as much or as little as time permits tomorrow Shane, make sure you grab anytime you need a chop out, I'll be around all day.

Just adding to what Peter has said.

Please no tear offs.
Duct tape your lights if you have them.
At the Bonfire.  Only place items that burn into the fire. No Glass, No Cans, No Bottle Tops Etc.

It's look like the weather is going to be good to us this year.  So have a great weekend.

Cheers Shane.
