[[/img]Some history of the bike. In 2011 we bought this from a guy in the states , he mentioned that Jim Holly had raced it . I`m always a bit skeptical about claims like this but this time I could verify it. My Brother knows Jim so it was a simple verification. Jim says he raced it a few times at Glen Helen although he can't remember any specifics about the bike.
The engine top end has been changed to reed valve induction. I was curious who did this as I didn`t want to buy the bike if it was a back yard job. I asked the seller who mentioned that the mods were done by Klemm Research . I contacted Harry Klemm over the phone and sent him pictures however he said he didn't do those mods but did mention that since 1990 an ex employee John Greenway had taken over the business and had kept the name of Klemm Research . I reached out to John with some pictures and he replied that it was his work , along with the pipe he made for it. Some ten years earlier, he had done a run of around 10 at the time.
I can`t tell you what was or wasn't done inside the engine as I`m not that technically minded.
What ever was done works. This engine is so much fun , it comes on  early and has a nice fat midrange hit, that pulls hard . It's not a peaky engine at all. If you can`t get a holeshot on this then you need to refine your technique , and that's including the open class.

The bike is located in Perth WA

PVL Ignition set at 2mm BTDC
Mikuni Carb size 36mm, its had some flow work done inside.
Geoff Morris expansion chamber GMC , no dents.  Original Klemm pipe and muffler that works great , it just looks beat up.
Boyesen single fiber reed, unknown part number.
Piston is in good condition and measures 72mm
The engine has good seals , replaced a couple of years ago but as the bike is only ridden 3 times a year they would be pretty low mileage. The engine passes a leak down check.
All the bearings are also low mileage.
I don`t know what a stock CR 250 M compression is but this has heaps.

Works performance shocks twin spring with pre load adjusters.
Back end raised to tighten up the steering.
Light weight swing arm of unknown origin.
Stock front end, no leaks. Good chrome.
Fresh gearbox shifter forks and good gears, 3rd undercut dogs.
Clutch plates mid life
Tyres pretty fresh
Chain and sprockets mid life.
Kick start has an after market lever with a flat cut on the shaft and a corresponding flat in the kick start spline hole. The splines on the original kick lever had stripped and we went through two after market levers, after that we went to the flat, no more problems. We have a NOS starter shaft if you want to go back to stock and spend $400 on a NOS kick lever (if you can find one)

The tank is a steel MT tank .Its in great condition with a recent paint job. The taps on these tanks make the fuel hose chafe on the cylinder head, we filed a small knotch on the fin for clearance.
We use MT head gaskets as they seal better with the crush ring as opposed to a copper head gasket.
New bars , so- so levers  and throttle.
The seat foam is a bit soft and the cover has a small tear in the rear. New seat foam included.
Aluminium foot brake.
Wide foot pegs
Spare clutch cover
A box of parts that are part rubbish and part useful.

Front mudguard non stock, rear stock
Side plates are pretty tired but do the job
The FRAME. This has been a problem but hopefully fixed. Its has a couple of cracks over the years that have been repaired. The last time we got some gussets welded in around the rear engine mount. This once cracked and damaged the upper rear engine case on the left hand side, this was professionally repaired.

If you are serious text me 0425376807 for photo`s

Honda / Re: Honda CR250 M frame
« on: October 06, 2018, 11:30:41 am »
The frame has cracked in the past on both lower rails , around the area of the gear lever and rear brake lever. These were repaired and are still intact. The new crack is at the upper rear engine mount on the left hand side. The result (or cause) was that the engine case mount where the bolt goes through also cracked and lost a chunk of material.

Honda / Honda CR250 M frame

I’m looking to replace my 73 CR 250 frame as its constantly cracking. Does anyone know if the MTor MR frames are usable ? My only concern would be the down pipe attachment points.
