Well he did ride a CZ before a KTM. Wasn't his fault a KGB plant put a branch thru Falta's spokes.
The top shock mounts on'75/'76 frames point down, on '77/'78 frames, they point up. 1979 is a new frame again & was the first of the top mount being a stud, it uses a different air box set up as well.

Buy one meter of 20 x 20 RHS , cut a V into one end about 50mm long then close up in a vise. If you can, weld up the V and grind smooth , now push firm into fork and hold with a shifter.

Would anyone have a pair of front fork rebound/top out springs for a 1981 Maico 490 they could sell me? I'm after the long soft pair not the short stiff ones.

I think there is still a DG swingarm for one of these on USA ebay. Yep heresays 79 but is 77.
