Tech Talk / Need help with 240 volt tig welder selection please
« on: January 30, 2018, 09:16:06 PM »
I am hoping some of the brains trust will help me out here. I'd be great full if you would.

Ok, even though Pete (Yamaico) offered to make me a big fin head for my XR project. I do not want to bludge of him. I would like to have a go at it myself.
Aiming at that tig weld finish for authenticity sort of look.
I only have 240 volts and need to butt weld 3mm plate to existing fins.

There is a Unimig 200 on ebay. I need someone to tell me if I am buying the right welder. I will find the link.... be back

Or maybe the site owner could raise funds toward such by selling some advertising space to allied industry?

Like Ballards MX store or bike trailer manufacturers etc, for example etc etc?

Maico / Re: Maico 490 Corte Cosso Shock Rebuild - Contacts
« on: January 17, 2018, 09:15:55 AM »
I have a set built by Rad-QLD ten years ago. Bigger shafts and some other ohlins parts. Wasn't that dear
considering not only are they the best shocks ridden on by me and all who have ridden my bike too.
They are still in perfect mechanical order. No leaks no wear in seal head bush!

The only thing they couldn't get at the time were the new rubberized flexible eye end bushes in that size.
I finally replaced those myself last year. I was able to find some that were close then Machine them to required spec. I would throw up some pics if I knew how.

The experience has left me collecting discarded Mega2 Corte Cosso shocks now.

Great to see some input. Agree with all of it (I think too)

I would have no problem paying say less than one schooner a week (say $5) membership fee to this forum.
Maybe then it could afford a storage/server large enough to host and archive members image attachments?
