Bike Talk / Re: What's happened to all the real bikes???
« on: April 04, 2011, 07:26:20 am »
I am with Bill on this one, FWIW. Another post (MarcFX I think) tells us that Yamaha have been producing the 500 engine for 35 years. So one can build a so-called "HL Replica" (which it demonstrably is not) with a 2011 frame and a 20-something engine; this has precisely what to do with VINTAGE MX?

RV125 VanVan.
Just to be picky, all the RVs (50, 75, 90 and 125) were called Van Van in Japan and in some other countries. The 125 was the Tracker, and the 90 the Rover. Don't know if the 50 and 75 had individual names. Sorry, but I am an RV90 tragic... neat pit bikes!

Honda / TL125 engine resto question
« on: March 25, 2011, 01:48:30 pm »
I have just picked up a very original, unmolested TL125 K2. My other bikes are Huskies which have black motors, and I have never restored a Honda with a silver motor. While the bike is very tidy, what is the best procedure for getting the motor looking like new? Bead blasting? Paint? Incantation from a licensed wizard? Any help much appreciated.

Those of us whose uncles spent three years in their tender care in Changi some 60 years ago might see things differently. "Awesome"? Jeez... to be charitable, perhaps you are too young to have such a close connection. Or are we meant to hold hands and sing Kumbaya?

All NZ bank accounts are in the format of 2 numbers (bank), 4 (branch), 7 (individual account), then 2 (sub-account, e.g. -00 for cheque). Sometimes a particular transaction requires 3 digits for the sub-account, so one adds another zero - e.g. -01 becomes -001.

If all else fails PM me and I can arrange it through my firm's trust account - for my sins I am a lawyer (cue abuse...  ::) in Auckland.
